Beware! Your 96 hood latch will not be accessable through this grille. You will need to get a long thin screwdriver (I used a barbeque tool). I later got a latch from a 98 in a junk yard. That latch opens from the top.

so basically the chrome part comes off in 1 piece along with the stock grill

when you take off your grill the whole thing chrome and gray will come off together, but in order for you to install your billet grill you will have to cut out the gray part from the chrome in order for the billet grill to fit properly. You will want to test fut your grill first to know where to cut. i was going to post some pictures but i couldn't figure out how to.

my billet installed by removing the blue oval then using zip ties. Looks great...

Ok, I had two replies in this thread, but the rollback deleted them.

Reply 1 was something to the tune of:

When I installed my OptionRacing ($38.99 shipped from feebay) billet grille last week, I removed the grille shell to gain better cutting access with the Dremel. I didn't cut the entire center section out like someone above posted. I just cut the horizontal and vertical bars. I left a small amount of the gray section all the way around. This is what you're actually supposed to mount the grille to. I drilled 4 pilot holes for the mount screws and dove in. My grille came with the 4 mounting screws 4 metal retainer things so they don't back out. It also came with the hood release adapter for pre-'98 models.

Reply 2:

If you get your kit and it doesn't have the required release adapter, I kept mine and you can have it.

That's great to know it comes with an adapter

Here are some pictures of how my install looks. The grille appears to be the exact one that is pictured above... I just got mine from a different vendor.

looks good man, i just got the tracking # for the shipment today :)

That looks really good I am thinking about getting one, did you have to move the transmission cooler to fit the lights in, When i installed my 6inch ones back there i had to. I was wondering if you did move it where you mounted it.
