Picked up my PIAA Wiper Blades at the SEMA show and just got them installed today. These have silicone impregnated into it so as you use it it leaves a slight silicone layer on the windshield, similar to rain-x. I haven't had a chance to use them yet (the one time I'm wishing for it to rain! LOL) but they look very impressive. They come in carbon fiber and black and I of course got black.
These seem much better then the Bosch micro-edge I had on there before these. To install them is more then just slapping them on there after taking off the old ones, there is actually a window coating you use prior to using them, then you run them dry for about 5 minutes so it leaves an initial layer of silicone down. I'm told they recommend changing them once a year but I was told that they expected themt o work much lunger, they would just stop leaving the silicone layer ont he windshield after a year or so.

And don't worry I'm still in the process of trying to find a vendor for a group purchase for us.

sweet

if these are much better than the micro edge than im gonna like em! i already love those micro edge ones, what kinda ballpark is the price gonna slide into?

I have them in both the F-150 and the Explorer now. The model for the F-150 is 10 (20") and the model for the Explorer is 7 (18"). As soon as I know some pricing info I'll let ya know!

If you check out the other thread on the PIAA blades, they have a link for someone that's selling 'em, I think they ran about 20 to 30 bucks, but I can't remember

EDIT - Yeah, the black ones are 18.95, carbon fiber 23.75 according to that website...here's the link: http://www.autobulbdepot.com/fr_wipers.tpl?cart=30874682371303439

I would guess a group buy would get it down to 15 per piece or so?

I remember on the other thread someone mentioned running a longer blade that would cover a larger area but still not hit the edge of the windshield. Is anyone doing this and if so, what the info for that setup? Also do these come in packs of 2 or are the $18 for one?

Nevermind, I opened my eyes and answered the how many come in a pack question. Let me know about a setup if you're running larger blades though.

I would definitly be in for a set if we could get a group purcahse going!

larger blades...

sirhk100, on my 95 I have a 19" on the driver side and a 18" on the passenger side. I did this so both my cars at the time would have the same blade setup and it would lower the cost of refills. The 19" fits fine and wipes a larger path, obviously. There has been no problems associated with doing this. It is recommended if you like to see more when the blades wipe the windshield.

Of course this meens you would need to buy a pack of each size for refills when the time came. It would also mean the next you needed to replace the refills you would already have a set on hand.

I use 20" both driver and passenger sides. They're Bosch Micro Edge Excel. It's excellent!!

Matt, instead of waiting for it to rain, do like I did when I got my Bosch blades and have somebody spray the windshield with a hose while you sit inside and see how well they work :D

I have found a vendor. I will have a price by tomorrow.

I believe thats a negatory. The smallest wiper they have is 15"... I think the rear wiper is something like 13"... correct me if I'm wrong though!

I'll get some prices on the 15" as well.
