okay , so im putting a lift on my explorer i just bought. i saw that the leaf springs are under the axle. is it better if i swaped them over the above the axle? how would i do that?

there are a bunch of write ups guys have done on a spring over axle project. some are in the process rigth now. goto offroad explorer projects in the main forum then search around. you will find many posts and lots of information on this. searching on this topic will do ya best.

i might be kinda late but i believe that under the axle is better for pre-running and over is better for general 4x4. under will mean you have less axle-wrap, which can be a problem when done over the axle...over axel will let you flex a little better though...here is a little chart...

do a search for soa, if thats how you wnat to set it up... my toyota that i have right now is sua, as the stock explorers, i have my truck lifted via an add a leaf and lift shackles

an soa will get you around 5" of rear lift without any lift spring or shackle, so make sure youve got the front lift to match
