Ok so I took a spin on Stic-o LED swap and heres what I came up with.

LEDs:

Tail lights:

With LEDs:

I'm not all the way done yet but here is where I am at. I did run into a problem :( I love my blacked out tail lights. Should I tint these the same? My head lights are black. I did buy the dark chrome tail lights so there closer to black. Will the LEDs not look as cool with the tint over them? I don't know? Let me know what you think, I will be up dating this more as I get more done. :salute: Cheers!

So I took Tims idea and covered it in plastic and tinted over that and I love the way it looked. It will look a ton better when its really tinted.

Done and curing. 1-21-10

Here I am just letting them cure. I added smoke tint to them then a clear coat stain. There are very SMALL imperfections but you wont see them unless you are looking for them. When I get them on I will up date this. :salute: Cheers!

I say tint em! If anything, it would amplify the leds, other words, it will make each individual led bulb stand out more. I doubt it will effect the light output. As you know now with your switches, those suckers are pretty bright!

Do you think it will amplify the LEDs? I mean my tail lights are hella tinted now as it is and have blubs in them and you still see it great the LEDs are WAY brighter as it is.

Well if your not to sure, what you could try doing is wrapping them wit serene wrap, and tinting the wrap. That will give you a good idea what they will look like, and it you don't like them, you can toss the serene wrap, and not destroy the lights.

I say put them in first and see what you think, it's a lot harder to get the tint off then to spray it on.

You are both right! I will tint one with wrap and leave the other put them side by side lit up. See how they look and post a picture here and let you guys see.

Love your thread I have been looking at it for a year now and finally decided to take the plunge and get them started. I was just waiting to run across the right LEDs!

Anyways I will get the other tail light cut up tonight. The next step will be fake tinting one and taping the LEDs in just to see what they will look like before I glue them in. But right now I'm broke hahaha :salute:

Subscribing... this looks really cool, keep us posted please :)

Are those decals real on your back window? It may be just me but they look Photoshopped on there or something LOL.

Im loving these 2nd gen tails, yours AND Stic-O's.
Im gonna do something simaler, but with plug and play LED bulbs, and some aftermarket housings. Just gotta get the money first LOL

did you find the Hazard/Turning fuse you needed?

It was a photoshop someone wanted an idea for something I forget why I did it.

Naw I am going to go it a different way... I'm just going to wire tap into the stock wires and leave the bulbs in as well and shove them back behind the tail lights so the truck wont even know the difference.
