I have a 99 AWD 5.0. I am replacing a u joint in the front drive shaft so the front drive shaft is disconnected from the front axle. I tried to spin the front left tire to line it back up to bolt back together but when I tried to spin the left front by hand, it spins maybe an inch or two and then stops. I tried to spin the front right tire and it spins fine. Is this normal?

Automatic or manual? And you're trying to spin it with the u-joint + driveshaft reconnected?
Can't spin my wheels more than an inch when in Park with automatic, because it locks them (vs having to park with e-brake in a manual for example.)

Wheels off the ground? With the control arms at full droop, the CV joints bind up

Automatic. No the driveshaft is disconnected. I should have mentioned the front of the vehicle is up on jack stands and I'm trying to spin the front wheel to get the front drive shaft to line back up

Yes. I should have mentioned the front of the vehicle is up on jack stands and wheels off the ground at full droop. The passenger side spins but not the drivers side. This is normal?

Depending on cv axle, yes. You might look close at the say bar end links, but at full drop, they may bind.

In my experience yes and I've read threads before where others have had the same conundrum. Try to get a jack under the front control arms and get the wheels less drooped out. See if it spins then, and just to rule out other stuff, in Neutral

I'll try that. Thank you!
