Solved Lifts and Max tire sizes

Lift and tire size info for explorers

Lifts and max tire and wheel sizes for explorers
This is a quick reference guide I have put together based on information gathered from the Explorer Forum. Remember this is just a guide. You may have to do some fender trimming to fit these tires on your explorer. Others things can change what size tire you can run on your explorer. Like fiberglass fenders, rim width and rim backspacing.. I figured this would help some of you that were pondering what size lift to run what size tires. If anyone would like to add something go ahead and post it and I will add it to my list. If any of the moderators could make this a sticky that would be great. Hope this helps.

try tredepot.com. i just bought a set of 33" duratracs for 640 bucks with free shipping and no tax. they came in 3 days. they will also match prices so try to find two places online that carry the tire you want and play them against each other.

So since i don't have a lot of money to change my rims, i was looking for the perfect size to get in my car.
I found this website :

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php?tires=33-11.5r15-270-80r16

I don't want them too large so this is the good one.

See ya guys

Can I fit 33x10.50x15 on my sport trac with a Cali lean or california squat on it. From stock height? Or do I need 32?

I'm hoping this is the right forum to post in !
I have a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport with 15 inch rims and tires 2wd.
I'm looking into something to help me get through sand and a little bit of mud, any advice or ideas ?

bambangs 33s might be tight in the rear with no lift. Spacers might be able to help you out. You could do a body lift and then crank the tbars up a little to fit the 33s

hey guys this is an awesome site.... question though, i have a 2000 explorer limited 4x4, is there any chance of me being able to fit 265/75r16's (32x10.5) on my stock explorer or in reality am i limited to a 265/70r16 (31x10.50)... the chart didnt say about the 265/75r16 for a 2000 but it said for a 2002 it would fit stock so i was curious if anybody had tried this...

Getting a bit big there, you'll probably find they'll rub at the top of wheel well every time you go over an everyday speed-bump. When I had 265/70's on & a 40mm suspension lift (my old 98 XLT) they rubbed at this spot at any large bump or wheels in the air type 4wding, I had to slow down a fair bit more than I was used too. Also don't know about how much harder your auto box has to work?? :australia

do you think that would be rubbing that could be corrected with some trimming inside the wheel well?

It rubs on the PLASTIC right above the wheel, if you put your arm in there & move your hand around you'll feel a large "shaped lump" as if it's there because of something, especially on the left hand side. I don't know if "trimming" would work or make something liable to be damaged that isn't protected anymore, sorry.
Let us know what you do ok, cheers :australia

There's really no room to trim the the top of the wheel well. If your tire is hitting that a lot it means you have too big of tire. Trimming is really just for at the bottom of the wheel wells to clear a turning (as in turning the steering wheel) tire.

I got a set of 33x12.5x15 for my $250 ranger, It looks like it might have about a 2" lift on it though.
I'm just going to keep cutting until they stop rubbing! lol
