I started wiring my Bosch 180 lights using a fog light wiring harness (also Bosch) I had gotten with the truck. I have everything figured out (which is a big deal for me) except I have a purple wire which is for attaching to the low beam wire so the fog lights it was intended for only operate with the low beams on. I want either high beam operation (these are rally-type lights) or completely indepedent operation. If I do not attach this wire, will the lights not work? I looked for the black/light green high beam wire to attach it to, but was intimidated by a big wad of wires.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

no, that wire most likey goes to the relay for the lights, which sends the power to the lights. Do a search for more information on relays and how they work. You would need to attatch the wire that was meant for the low beam to either a switch or to the highbeam wire. and what ever you do, dont just strip the wire and twist them together and cover with electrical tape, either use connectors or solder them together. You lights will thank you.

Get a $5 test light. Looks like an ice pick w/a wire that clamps on a ground. screw. You can then poke the test light into the wires to find out which is a Hot wire.
I usually connect to the headlight high beam wire (for Driving lights) at or near the headlights themselves. Easy to find the right wire that way.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I will, hopefully, be finishing up tonight or this weekend.
