Diggin' up an old thread here...
I actually found this thread while Googling for information on lighting upgrades for my '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. (Well, re-found... I remember when Nate first started it years ago, but my '99 Explorer and '98 Mounty had 9007's and didn't offer me the ability to take advantage of this mod).
Luckily for me, WJ's have a dual beam headlights, with 9005/9006 for hi/lo. Friday I bought qty: 2, AH211917 from John Deere and did the required modifications to fit them into my headlight housings. Interesting to note, my bulbs are Toshiba HIR2's. I thought these were discontinued in '09, so maybe Toshiba started making them again or JD has lots of stock.
The extra light output is a great. Well worth the upgrade!
Someone mentioned JD hiked their price when people started buying them for their cars.
They are now $28/ea tax at John Deere dealerships.
Also, while I was upgrading the bulbs, I took the time to try a 3M Headlight Restoration kit. This kit is phenominal. I picked it because it is a 4 step process that requires you to chuck the sanding/buffing/polishing pad into your cordless drill. My WJ's headlights were quite oxidated and road rashed (and I had tried to wet sand them by hand 2 years ago). Compared to the other kits on the market, this kit is quite aggresive, with 3 steps of abrasives (500, 800, 3000 grit) and final liquid polishing compound. Also, by using a cordless drill you can get considerably more sanding/buffing, with A LOT less work!

Here are some before/after pics of the 3M headlight resto on the driver's headlight. The difference is quite remarkable. (The after pics include the new, 9012 HIR bulbs).

EDIT: PS, don't take your headlights off like I did to do the 3M resto. Its a PITA. I did the passenger's headlight today with it mounted on the Jeep and it was significantly easier!
