1988 Ford Ranger XLT
I have looked all over the place and have not been able to find the caps for my 1988 XLT. If someone would be kind enough to help, I shall be greatly appreciative. I just need to know what the max rear bed payload is and the max towing load is. The specs are:
2.9L V-6 (got after market heads since the stock ones cracked so easily. The guy I bought this from was the auto teacher at my high school and he has an engine shop as a side business. He put larger valves and bigger injectors into it so he could move more motors at a time.)
Reg Cab/ long bed type 11 body
5 speed overdrive transition
F6 limited slip rear axle
4wd transfer case
Larger coolant reservoir
Just about every other option other then power windows/ locks
Thanks for any help and if you need more info, just ask.

...have you checked the sticker inside the drivers door or on it's pillar???

That only gives that max weight of the vehicle and says nothing about how much I can tow. It says that I can hold 1002 lbs of things with me in the truck, that sounds like a lot for a light truck(but then again I don't know much about weight ratings). The weight of the truck is 3345lbs and the max gvwr is 5000 somthing.

...that sounds about right when the truck was new and in peak performance...now, with sagging springs, weak shocks and wore breaks it would be half of that..;)

...here's a bump till someone else chimes in as there are a few first gen rangers here who might be a little more informative...:D

...by the way, i didn't see where you are from in your signature...if you are in so. cal i know where there are 5 first gen rangers for parts...

I am in socal. So some parts are useful. But back to the topic. The truck has new everything when my teacher bought and overhauled it, it had 107,000 miles on it. It now has 147,950 on a new motor, trans, cluch, shocks, everything under the hood, tires since the overhaul(all for $500 :D). I am going to use this truck to move things around for my dad's business and a friend of his. We are trying to use this as a second vehicle in a convoy to the middle of the desert in BLM between backer and pahrump NV. Since having two vehicles is always a good idea. I really only need to know how much it can tow because I am going to load a trailer with parts/ tooling to deliver to shops in the area. I am also trying to move my brothers '76 gaymero from our auto shop at our school to our house. The gaymero weights 4000lbs + the weight of the trailer to it will be on.
