Hi, I am in the process of replacing a 5R55E transmission and torque converter. I came across the following installation tip. Can anyone verify this is a procedure that should be done? I am hesitant to grind off threads on a new converter.
"Lockup clutch failure will occur when the lockup piston applies against an uneven surface. Grinding off one thread length from all lockup converter bolts is recommended to avert this type of failure."
Thanks!
