Lowering a 97

i have decided to lower my explorer as much as posible i remember like 6 months ago when i had my suspensions installed i told them i wanted my expo lowered and they said i would have to buy blocks for the back so i told them well just lower the front for now till i can get the blocks and they said they would so i went to pickup the truck when evrything was done and they said they couldent lower the front cause they would have to cut the bumper stops in half or something like that and it was already past closing time and they would have to charge me extra so i said forget it and just left so since then i have been reading about lowring on this forum and my head hurts from all the reading some people say the store blocks will fit some say it wont some say they had to bed it whats up with all this... how can it fit and then not fir for some people im hoping for a 3 inch drop or more i went to a suspension shop the other day and they said something about taking out the back leafs and heating it up then banging them to make it lower but the cost would be ovber $340 just for that and it dont sound too good to me? why is it so much troble i have a toyota camry and all i did was pay $25 to have the springs cut and curently sits half a inch from the floor

blocks in the rear and you can do a tt but turn the tt bolts to the left and it will lower the front then get an alighnment. Search for "torsion bar 101" for the thread on it.

can i remove the bolts completelly? do they even come out.

i cant find blocks that go lower then 3 inches and to me 3 inches aint much at all unless the person owns a explorer could they really tell that its lower

i think i heard someone say that you can remove the bolts, but it rides like crap. Its going to ride like crap regardless due to their being such soft suspension. but the blocks in the back will drop the rear down and maintain same ride quality.

I know I can tell mine is lowered, click the "my ride" link in my signature--
Mine is dropped 2 1/2" max--and I did have to cut the bumpstops after the torsion keys were flipped.

Don't forget the camber adjuster shims, you'll need them.

The block will work, but the bolts will not, unless you reform them.
Also--I heard 1 bad feedback about the summit camber shims--

These reasons are why I recommend the "overpriced" kit from explorer express. It is designed for your truck--and it is what I use--

I would buy the re-indexed torsion bar keyways if you can, if you cant, swap the keyways over and redimple them and install the bolts in enough to locate the keyways. Other problem is the front end wont align over about 2"s past stock
