Can I still use my KKM if I purchase the MAC intake or is this a bad idea?

Does the MAZ come with its own MAF sensor or do you use the stock ones? I wouldn't mind getting a new MAF since I was lazy and only cleaned the KKM about every 15 months or so. (I know I know)

If I was to ditch the KKM completely, how often do you have to replace the Amsoil air filters?

The Mac comes with its own filter; no need for anything KKM.

I prefer the Amsoil EaA filters to the one with the Mac; I swaped as soon as Amsoil released them. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaau.aspx

Use the stock MAF.

I see no reason for a new MAF.

If you were to use an Amsoil EaA. all you do is clean it with compressed air. Its oil less.

Thank you thank you....

So you don't think I should go for the C & L MAF?

How much did that cost you?

FROM JAMES:

"Grant,
If you have the black plastic, 4hole square flange unit stock then the part you are looking for is 106A. Pricing is $169.00. If you need a filter I offer those as well for an additional $40.00. I have also enclosed links for purchase. If you would like to purchase both parts click the first link close out the window then click the second link, then both parts will be in the shopping cart.

Link for C&L meter. http://www.1shoppingcart.com/Secure...4CE5C5CA&pid=e9cf021eef16a02be181ca89c717cd6f

Aldive,

Is this the same thing you purchased? James is calling it a "C&L Meter".
$169 seems a little high for just a fabricated "hunk" of metal which is has been referred to in other threads. What is the "meter" referring to?

So....

Will I see massive improvements if I spend $170 for the C&L Meter, $170 for the Mac Intake, $63 for a brand new Ford OEM MAF off of Ebay, and then ditch the 7 year old KKM for the $40 Amsoil Absolute Efficiency Air Filter?

$170+$170+$63+$40= $443.

That is quite a bit of money, so am I likely to see a really nice improvement in the sound and MPG since I already have the Flowmaster 50 to compliment it? I am not worried about HP gains because 1) I have the weaker OHV engine 2) with the high gas prices, I drive very light footed.

Aldive mentioned that I don't really need a new MAF...But it seems that if I am going to spend $380 on everything else, I might as well have a new MAF for $60 right? If I buy the new MAF, will I need to program it somehow?

I also saw that some people have gone to junk yards to get Mustang 5.0 MAFS...Is that something I should consider?

Any responses would be appreciated.
THANK YOU!

Anyone?

the 73mm MAF isn't really needed that much, you should be fine without it, you probably wont know with or without it.

Oh, what do you base that statement upon? Have you actualled tested both?

If its pure HP you want, free up some with an underdrive pulley; more bang for the buck.

A new MAF for $60? Is that a new part? I see no reason to purchase one unless the current one is faulty.

I wouldn't.

Yes it is brand new on ebay. Here is the link (please don't buy it ;)) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Expl...011QQitemZ320231687832QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I'm not trying to waste money, but $63 for a new MAF on a 7 year old car seems like a good deal and couldn't hurt.

Its NOT HP I am aiming for...Like you, I am hoping for better MPG and I also think this setup will help my Flowmaster perform better.

Al,

Are you saying I should go with the UDP instead of the MAC and the C&L, or buy both?

Al,

If you can affords both, by all means go that way. However, if you can only get one, I strongly recommend the UDP.

I'm guessing that with my 2 amp audio system and all of my other accessories that the UDP wouldn't be good on the alternator.

I think I will go with the MAC, C&L, and Amsoil filter for now.

Easily remedied with an overdrive alternator pullrey ( I use one ).
