So i was wondering i have a 2002 x and i noticed the 2005 explorer i saw the other day was slightly different. Can anyone tell me the major differences between the models I now i dont have advance trac system.. I parked right next to a 2005 stock x. His was at least an inch higher than mine and he was running 235s im running 245's..what the hell!!!

Not to worried about the interior features.

Also i think they might be called wind splitters or something but i believe the 2004 and 2005 have them on the rear fender right after the rear tire little please of plastic? Where can i buy these or get these(junk yard) Will it fit on my 2002?

The tread width of the tire doesn not affect the height of the truck. The aspect ratio and the rim diameter do though. As far as I know they are exactly the same. Maybe he had new springs all around or something like that.

They were the same rims im pretty sure. And im pretty sure that if you go from 245/70/16 to 255/70/16 or any increase that the height is increased. Few posts on here that back that up. Jut saw a thread where someone with same x as me upgraded to 255's and recorded a 1inch difference.

In you example yes going from a 245/70 to 255/70 will increase the height by approx 1/2 inch. But in your original post you didn't note the aspect ratio or rim diameter. These are the main factors in tire diameter and thus hieght, just sayin'.

oops sorry not to sure of there size I assumed it was the same casue it looked like the same type of rims..

02-05 were the same generation, so only minor cosmetic differences between the two, likely any appearance differences were more-so related to the trim package (xls, xlt, eddie bauer, limited) wheel styles, trim, etc may have changed year to year, but like i said most likely they were package differences.

as for height. the suspesions would have been the same from the factory, so any difference in height would have been from either tire height or your springs settling (older) or him having brand new springs. My wifes 03 just got the rear coils replaced and the backend sits a good 2" higher than before. it will settle though.

as for the tire size debate, it has been explained, but keep in mind the amount of height your truck increases wont be a constant based on size of the new tire, depending on what size tire you currently have. and also keep in mind you only get 1/2 increase in height of the tire difference. so if you current tire is 30" tall and the new tire is 31" tall you only gain 1/2" in height.

great thanks and anyone know about the wind splitter things that i was referring to?

I have only seen the little rock guards (I'm assuming that is what you are referring to) on the XLS and XLT trim that lacked the body cladding that the nicer XLT, Eddie Bauer, and Limited trims came with. I'm not certain if that is 100% the case, but it has been what I have observed.
