Motor swap.....

We just got a 1991 ford explorer sport 4x4 with a 5 speed. It needs a motor and we found a 4.0 out of a 1991 aerostar automatic. Is there a huge difference between the two? Will the motor still work with the 5 speed?

Your two motors should be virtually identical. You will need the flywheel off the origional motor.

My fiancee was online and it is showing there is a difference in the camshaft, Is that true? What difference will that make? We have all the parts including the blown motor out of the 1991 ex, so swapping parts isn't a issue.

Do you have the VIN code for the Aerostar? The Explorer and Aerostar if both 1991 should both have the VIN code "X"
