Just mounted my Lund roofrack, and I was looking for suggestions on how to secure brackets to mount my roof rack lights on the front of it. I'd really rather not drill into the new rack or weld, so maybe clamp style or something? Attached are a few pictures so you can see what it looks like with the round bars and all. Any suggestions or ideas anyone has would be great.

Nevermind, figured out an easy way to mount them, haha. Mods, if you could delete this thread that would be good, as its kind of useless right now.

geesh that was fast :D

Haha, yea. Those clamps are sweet, but I'm going to try to save money and just mount them higher up on the rack instead of right off the front. Should work, I just need more time than I currently have. :(

where are you going to run your wires to hide them? I've been thinking abotu something similar.

Please tell us what you decided to do.
It could help the next guy in your situation who is looking for a mount spot.

I'll post up pictures, I'm going to try like hell to get this done tomorrow.

If you mount them above the rack height won't they be in the way of larger items that you may want to carry on the roof, like a ladder or something ?

Finally got some pics, sorry for the delay.

Up close shot. You can see how I fabbed the bracket out of an aluminum L bar piece. Cut off two pieces from it and placed them underneath on either end, and clamped it down on the rack bars. Drilled the piece out for the lights, sprayed it all black, and bolted it up. It hasn't moved in the few months it's been in place. I'm pleased. :D

That's a very nice setup... If you decided to put them in front of the rack, you still have space in the railing to add a flat crossbar from like Thule, and mount them on that also.

I got 6 coming, two won't be obvious. How is the beam from up there? Any special angling needed? And did you end up drilling holes or not? Thanks!

Donner,

To be honest, I never got the chance to hook them up.

College student here, so I fabbed the mount over fall break and I just ran out of time. Haven't had time off from school since to get the wiring done. Hopefully over the next few days I can get it hooked up, and then I'll be back with more pics and a lighting report. :D

Sounds like a good plan!

Some of these projects get complex, and finding exactly what you want can be a pain. But man, when you get everything in order, you forget it took 3 months to plan out  You guys are good at this... so I "borrow" your ideas :shifty_ey

These guys were at a local store - fog lights as small as an egg, and black like the crossbar, sooo one will be tucked under each inner corner of the front crossbar. They cost like $20 a pair - and I'll post a pic somewhere as soon as I forget they are there and crush them against some low-level entrance  :D

Good approach to your problem.

They are tough to find... but,

like I said, I "borrow" your ideas :shifty_ey I asked you about those sometime back, you don't recall? I was plotting :D They look great!

Finally got 'em hooked up. Love em. Can't wait to burn out my buddy's retinas when I follow him. :D

Looking real good Paraphoe.
You are Lit!

Paraphoe,

How did the wiring go ?

Where did you end up running the wires ?

How did you wire it up, straight off of a switch, relay(s), fuses, etc.

Tell us the WHOLE story.

Looks great, that a lot of lights, WOW !
I love home brew especially when it turns out really good.

Sorry, didn't see this till now. Wiring went well. Got dear old dad to help me out a bit, because I'm not the best with wiring. Have the lights on 2 separate switches (inner two on one, outer two on another) with no relays. Wiring running into the cab (through the door and weatherstripping like my CB antenna), into the console, through the firewall (through the rubber grommet) and directly to the battery. Works great. :D
