Welcome! This is 4x4 heaven, and outdoor heaven, you will love it. There are a bunch of members from this board in your new area...just drop us a line!

Denver kicks as*!!!!!!!!!

nope no members on here from Denver! heh ehh j/k, yeah theres lots of good trails and stuff around, best bet is to get the colorado 4-wheeling guide book, forget the exact name, theres two volumes for it... great books. Have very detailed instructions on many trails. Theres always folks around here too :).

Well welcome to denver, I don't know where a good shop is, but I don't live there. Welcome anyway.

Good shops:

Supertrucks
High Country (good shop but $$$$$$$)
Wild West Off Road (best in town for Explorer's, Bronco's)
4wheel parts (buy stuff there, never have work done by them)

The best shop of them all is your own garage however........I only take my truck in to somebody for three things: exhaust, alignment, and gears.

Thanks for all the info and I look forward to getting out there and having some fun. Just one more question, coming from maryland standing at a whopping 520ft above sea levle to colorado a mile up what chages do I need to make to the intake and air/fuel mix of my truck? I'm new to this whole thing and am looking for as much help as I can get. Currently running a stock 2000 explorer xlt.

Thanks again

matt

Nothing. The computer will adjust everything for you. You can really benefit from a high flow intake and exhaust up here though!!! BIG TIME!!!!!

Definetley get an exhaust and intake, maybe some headers is you want, they will make a big difference there in Colorado. My best friend goes to college there and his Expedition was a dog up there, but after he added an exhaust and intake it made a huge difference, much bigger than if he/or anyone else did it at sea-level. It's not that your engine really loses power, the air is too thin there for a n/a. Thats why if you go to his school you'll see almost everyone with an Audi A4 or S4, all wheel drive and turbo power:D

Ok I'v taken the advice of other members and decided to go with the intake as my first step. One thing that came up was that the KKM intakes won't pass state inspections... SO can some one in the Denver CO area tell me how they delt with this problem because I don't want to spend the extra 150 dollars on the K&N CARB certified kit if i don't have to

If you want, you can add just a K&N air filter and cut the air box, or make your own custom cold air intake which would work awesome in Colorado's weather. Definitley add an Exhaust though, b/c you'll barely notice a difference with an intake alone, but combined with an Exhaust will give you easily noticable gains. Do a search on here and you should find plenty of info on how to cut the air box or make a custom cold air intake.:) Have you driven there yet? You'll be suprised when you go there and see how much slower your engine will run at that air, it's just thinner air which isn't good for a n/a engine. You'll see a lot of Audi's and Subaru's there because of the turbo engines and awd.
