Muffler Question

I have a 98 Explorer with the stock exhaust system. My muffler is shot and needs replacing. Can anyone tell me the correct size for the exhaust pipes. Are they 2.5 or 2.25. Does anyone have suggestions on mufflers? I am looking for an inexpensive but better sounding than stock solution.

Is ur explorer V-6 or V-8. I got dual 40 series flowmasters and it sounds real loud and deep.

I got the 2 1/2 inch tips and I got an 01 sport. 4.0 SOHC Engine
