Nice..man thats same size valves i run and good numbers..

You got cam specs?

I will when I get the cams in my possession, should be another week or two.

Man your gonna need to get some slicks

More power, less gear; bring the gear ratios down as the speed rises. John, you've got 4.88's now right, I forget?

I hope the 3.73 is the right gear for my truck, it's a pain to change the front. I can change the 4R70 trans to a close ratio, but that loses some bottom end grunt.

I plan to lower boost by switching back to the stock GT500 supercharger (no overdrive gears in supercharger snout).
And also I will run the biggest pulley I can get for my hub which is a 3.3.
I am hoping the boost will be down to about 12 lbs.
After getting the tune safe, I will start ramping up the boost again and see how much this thing can really take.
My goal is low 12's, I don't want to drop below 12 because I would have to cage it.

Also Atco has two drive in street lanes on test and tune nights.
The one I run in is 12 seconds and slower. The other lane is faster than 12's.
I want to be the fastest in the slower lane if that makes sense. lol.

That sounds like a blast, be reliable and drive to the track, to be fast yet different.

Ill be interested to see the dyno before and after and boost levels with the same charger and pulley setup as you have now..

Do we know any of those numbers now??

I have had no faster runs with the overdriven GT500 supercharger pinning the boost gauge at 20 psi.
So my best dyno run was approximately 310HP at wheels, 350TQ at wheels, that was also with approximately 20 lbs of boost on the non overdriven GT500 supercharger.
Best 1/4 mile run with that setup was 12.83
If I get to run it on the dyno after all this work, I will.
I agree it would be interesting to see how the charts differ.

I would expect boost levels to be lower since more flow would be happening through the engine.
The torque and HP curve will be really what I want to see.

After spending many weeks cleaning out my garage, I finally got to pulling the motor out in preparation for the new heads and cams.
I have some time off staring next weekend so I hope to get a lot done then.

I cant wait to see the difference in boost levels and the increase in power..its gonna be crazy i bet!!

I'm sure you will do a better job of the motor work than I did. Every time I see a motor in the air like that I cringe now.

I'm looking forward to the motor going back in, making great power, and staying in.

Can't wait to see the results, i still wanna get you down here with that thing

I'm surprised you were able to pull the engine without removing the hood.

hey, wait....yea, how the hell did you do that??

I'm sure you will do a better job of the motor work than I did. Every time I see a motor in the air like that I cringe now.

hate to say it don, but every time i see a update on your thread with your name on it, and havent talked to you yet, i get the same thing!
i think "oh no, what did the poor guy do now, and how can i help him" lol

so should we all place bets on what his new et, and mph will be when he lays a beating on a LS pile of junk?

and for the love of god, PLEASE paint the block!!!!!!

haha I was looking at the block and saying, I should paint that. lol.
I don't know though, It took me three days just to get the engine out and I really want to have it done by Atco Raceways Black Friday event.
To be fair Thursday wasn't a full day, got home from work and started at it around 3:30pm and worked until 6-7:00pm. Most of that was getting it up on jack stands.
I was hoping you guys could recommend a brand of spray paint for the block and also some spray aluminum cleaner to clean the aluminum brackets.
Would aluminum wheel cleaner work?

Getting the engine out with the hood on is not easy, there is a lot of pushing, prying, praying, and grunting.
I already told myself I was going to take the hood off before installation.
The radiator is still in there too, I live dangerously. haha

I plan to go back to the stock GT500 supercharger with the biggest pulley I have to lower boost as much as possible.
(I was using a custom modified supercharger with overdriven gears in it with biggest pulley and pinned gauge at 20).

if your going to do something to the brackets, send them to turdle to get powdercoated. you wont be disappointed. as for paint, just find some hi temp engine enamel. if you drive it, the paint isnt going to last forever, but it will look good for a few years.
if you can believe it, i can get the hood off (and have done it more then once lol) by myself without scratching anything. getting it back on, thats another story

btw, you wouldnt happen to have a extra m112 snout kicking around that your not using by chance?

Sorry, no snouts laying around.
What happened to yours or are you working on something behind the scenes?

If I had time to make things look pretty, Turdle would be my first choice. I have seen the work he does and it looks amazing.
Maybe in the future I will work on prettying up the engine compartment.
For now I have a deadline, I really want to have it race ready by 11/24 for AtcoRaceways black Friday event.

I am a little concerned that I might not make that deadline, and racing days are coming to an end by December at the latest.
Anyone ever degree cams in a 4.0 sohc with a degree wheel? I have not even figured out how to attach the wheel to the crank yet.
