Sounds like you need to remove the wheels, hubs, and rotors and plan on re=packing and or replacing the wheel bearings and race.
Also inspect th ehubs
Re-torque the wheel bearings
and check everything out

Also you can tell if your t case is in 4x4 by jacking both front tires off th eground, then spinning the driveshaft, with an open diff only one wheel will turn, if locked both will.
Then you can check your hub function in this same manner
If th efront d shaft wont spiin its likely because your t case is in 4x4 and the rear tires are on the ground.

With both hubs unlocked and th et case in 2wd the front d shaft should not spin while driving
if you have two bad hubs or a locker , it will spin even with the t case in 2wd

yeah dont use 4x4 on pavement it will bind up

you can hear the t case switch if you turn the engine off

hahaha **** well I bet thats what it is. I am going to take it on a dirt road on the way home see what happens. 410 what do you do for work? Also how much were those front fenders? I got some fenders a front bumper and a bush guard for $50. The fenders are from an 87, I am going to put them on after this trip on the weekend. But I really like the flaired ones. Watchin trucks this past weekend and they are hookin up a ranger, with the duel shocks extended radius arms and huge I beams. Thats something I want to look into doing with mine. I think I am going to stick with the IFS.

The fenders were alot of $$$$, they are made by autofab

there are other fenders on the market much cheaper.
Fiberwerx is a good place to check prices.

I runt he fiberglass because I wanted to clear 35's with only a 4" suspension lift and no body lift....

The TTB is a great setup but it can also be a headache, so do your research before you buy anything

No I am a consultant, Otis, Schindler, Mitsubishi, Thyssen Krupp, all have to answer to me. We dont sell or install elevators, we write the specs and do maintenance audits and stuff hehehehe consultants are jerks, they hate us because it means they can't get away with BS, but the architects and owners love us because they dont get ripped off or under-elevatored.
We specialize in the world tallest (mega high rise) so most of the work I do is over seas, Asia and UAE. However there is a new mega high rise being developed for the US, will be th etallest in the USA BIG TIME, but its all still very hush hush

For 84 and 85 with the little 2.8 used the little 195s for original equipment. Perhaps the 2.9 went up one size?

okay so got rid of the bad blue paint. And rednecked this bush bar to work. My front bumper is now a Fabed rear bumper haha couldent go wrong for the bush bar and bumper for $50.

now question... This drive was around 4.5h's each way, 1/2 way though this day I went to turn my wheels without moving any my power steering made a very bad sound, and would not turn the wheels. But it would only do this when I was not moving, I also aired down my tires to 20psi from 35psi. Is my steering pump going? Or do I need a larger power steering because of the 35" tires?

the pump or the box itself is likely getting old and needs attention.
Does your power steering work now? after it cooled down? did you check the fluid level?

I replaced my PS pump twice by 150K miles and the power steering box at 180K miles, maed all the difference in the world.

the whiney Ford power steering pump on the 2.9L and 4.0L trucks does not like dirty fluid, but it becomes dirty real quick. a power steering cooler is a GREAT idea with those tires.
The answer to your question is the stock steering setup is more then capable of turning those 35" tires all day long, aired down or not, but this is when its in newish condition, the components do wear out. Tie rods, steering box, shaft, pump, and lines should all be checked
