My BII Project

there were some factory bronco II's with rear capitans chairs, or 4 bucket seats, I have seen one in person, 100% factory

The earlier models are GLUED in so be careful
It can be tricky getting them to seal back up once you take them out too, but some tape, rubber trim, or foam should take care of that.
Also the glass and window frame once bolted in are a structural part of cab so you may notice a bit more body flex :)
The weight gains and ease of removal alone are worth this mod and also the reason my BII still has a top (along with Colorado weather)

well it must be different. I have an 88, but it has a newer style dash, the doors say 89. its the same as my 94 explorer. So I am not sure if the body its self is from a 89 but the front part is from a 88...

its possible somebody put a 88 front clip on a 89 truck or vise versa
Could also be a late model 88, who knows.
My BII has 90 BII door panels with a 88 dash from a 84 truck so really once they get this old who knows what was done to them

truck is 99% black now..... I took an old BII logo and put it over the FORD on the front.

Here is a pic of the computer behind the drivers seat.

You think that maybe both the RABS and the 4WD comp are in the same spot?

or is one connection 4WD and one 4L?

its possible your later model truck uses a single GEM that controls both, I simpy do not know. Just pull teh ABS fuse and you should be fine, I jsut went a step further and bypassed the RABS valve, pulled the wiring and computer from my truck, just because I had it apart one day after bypassing the RABS valve and throwing it in the trash

Fuel tank

Now looks like this thing has been broken for awhile now. Everything works but my fuel meter does not.... Any idea what this is used for?

Those are what you call some well worn parts :)

the fuel tank plug is FUBARED
Mine is still OEM after 290K miles, looks brand newish after cleaning and die electric grease

weird

Any idea what the plug is suspposed to do? To me it looks like it came loose and fell down and drove over....

It is the plug that feeds power to your fuel pump and sends the fuel gage theflaot signal
It is supossed to plug into the top of your fuel pump and protect the metal connectors from the elements and fluids.

Yours is fubared.
Your truck does not run right now without this sucker hooked up.
I would get a junk yard replacement unless somebody makes a new plug aftermarket or Ford.
Good time to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump and sender too

ONly pics I have of this stuff on my BII:

Your truck does not run right now without this sucker hooked up

I think that this happend before I got the truck... Now you scared the **** out of me when you said that because I am at work... So I run out to my truck to see if it starts, (thinking maybe I did this on the way to work) and it still runs with no problems. So its runnung with out it now... gas meter does not work though.... Think maybe that the 2nd pump is pulling all the gas?

it is quite possible the high pressure pump is pulling all your fuel,
89-90 models had a single in tank pump so yours again seems to be some sort of hybrid :)

I would drop the tank and see whats up!

Ever have any power problems going up hill?
any problems starting it when its parked on a hill?

I would check for power at those wires when you turn the key and I think its obvious why your gage doesnt work :)

plan to replace plug and in tank pump

I havent had any problems really. Think maybe this is why I havent blew off my fuel line? The hard plastic gas line had a hole in it when I bought the truck so we put a rubber gas line at that part. I have never had a problem with a leak agian nor did it just blow right off. Talking with a few different people they all say it should just blow off as soon as I turn it on. Now I have checked with Ford to see if I could get one from them, and its not possible, so I am getting one from a recker. At the same time I will grab this plug. I also noticed that the gas line after the 2nd pump is just a rubber gas line held on with a hose clamp. I have take it in the woods and mud and rocks with no problems. But before I hook that other pump up I think I may need to change all of this.

it is an EFI 2.9L correct?

I would love to see what your fuel pressure is at the fuel rail

The factory lines are nylon for both the high and low pressure side.
hose clamps and rubber line dont work well with the 80+psi on the high pressure side, but I am sure it COULD work

Did you double clamp it?
If not I am guessing it is the return line, which is low pressure

yup 2.9L EFI. From what I can tell its not the return line, the same line runs into the fuel pump under my seat....
Im going to the reckers now.
we will see what I find!

wow
hahahaha
This is awesome that its running

okay I have a guy that has a 87 Ranger that has the same setup. Two pumps one in tank and one under the frame rail. Now I can just shorten the line right?
Also I hope the plug is the same, cause he still has that on it also. So for $25 I can have all his gas lines from motor back, also the plug or anything that has to do with the fuel plug. happen to know what that plug is called?

fuel tank pump plug hahaha

It should be the same, but the Ranger lines may not be long enough actually since the Ranger tank is mounted on the side.
I would go look, and for $25 rip it all out and take it home for spares

You can buy the nylon fuel line in bulk, at least here in Denver I can

not when you can bolt in a dana 35, I wouldnt spend a penny on that D28, put the $$$ into a D35 TTB or solid axle depending on where you see yourself going.

Dana 35 will handle 35's, I know some guys run 37's on it no problem
just plan to do some maintenece on the wheel bearings/brakes, etc
