Stephen I have to admit that I can't get your ideas out of my head. I keep thinking about how sweet they are. You and your friend should definitely get some sort of CREATIVITY award. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue to look into creating a kit for manufacturing this idea. But in the meantime can I ask where you even got the FORD LICENSE PLATE to begin with? I would like to get that same FORD logo license plate. Please get back to me...

RyDogg, thank you very much for the compliments. I'm sorry to tell you but the Ford license plate was custom made, so it is not available at any store. I described how we made it in an earlier post. I have seen plates similar looking to the one I have and they are available at some auto parts stores. They have the silver and blue Ford logo on a polished backplate, though they do not light up of course. I would like to market my ideas, but I don't think Ford would like my making a profit on their logo. The Explorer light inside may be a different matter though; I'm still researching it.

Guess what I found....

I dont know if any of you noticed it or mentioned it yet, but J.C. Whitney makes an EL( Electro luminecsent) Lighted ford oval to replace the one on the hood I guess, I think its that size...maybe bigger..looks pretty cool, its licenced by ford, so you know its exact spec, and you could fab it into a plate like stephen did, only with ALOT less work and really no need for any major equipment.... Just my .02 I know I'm gonna do it to my truck as soon as I can order one ...C'Mon boys check your J.C. now and then!! LOL

Are you talking about something like a Lumilogo??? They are used to replace the Ford oval on the grill. If this os what you mean, then yeah, you'll probably be able to do something like I did with it and use it as your front plate. But it'll be the size of the oval on the grill. The one on my front plate is much bigger.

You could get the larger lumilogo that's made for the Superduty trucks.

I talked to Stephen about the dash light and I made one for my X also. It came out great, everything he told me worked out just right.
