My daughter the deer hunter

Well, this makes deer 3 for her.

Wish I had taken before pictures.

4 years ago the car was heavily keyed, and then repainted. The person who did the work passed away, soon after the clear started to peel. So, considering it is a Neon the decision to drive it into the ground was made.

I have no before pictures, just picked up after re forming the front core support

The headlights were shot anyway, having turned cloudy and yellow.

I purchased replacement panels on ebay,

1 new hood
1 new front bumper cover
1 right front fender
2 new headlights

total so far 423.60 including shipping

o'rielly implement paint tinted to paint code, reducer , filters and plastic mixing cup 63.00

New headlight bolts ( OEM bolts snapped) 15.00

The power steering reservoir had cracked in the accident, I oredered a new on, but the treplacement turned out too difficult, so I sealed the crack with seal all and tape. It has help fine for days.

25.00 for reservoir--

The weather was too cold , so I farmed the painting to a local guy. He threw in the clear coat. 75.00 cash

new painted fender lined up good

Anyway, this is a budget repair for a single mother going to school. It will have to do for now.
The horn was broken in the impact. It looked to be a bent bracket which I reformed and bolted back into place. I didn't try it out though until just now, no worky. I will need to replace this asap.

This is my second attempt at repairing bumper cars. Yes, the "grille bar" is a bit slanted, but it was broken. Sparksaflyin glued it back together so blame him--:p::D

aren't deer just wonderful! last night i just about tagged another one with evil! that would have been the second in three years. looks good however. good enough to beat around town with.

That repair looks great. After we tagged a coyote at 80mph, our Neon looked much worse than that, even after the repair. Nothing ever lined up quite right again.. and the edges of the bumper would flap in the wind.

Very nice Jon. Glad that local guy was able to help you out. Wish I could have made it up there to do it for ya, but you just had to traverse the country side looking for dirt & rocks to play in..lol

I would invest in about 12 deer whistles for the front of that car. Maybe a brush guard with headlight protection.:D

:burnout:

Maybe you sould get a push bar for the Neon:p:

Great job Jon:chug:

The car reportedly made the 70 mile drive home to Pittsburg, Ks just fine. The radio doesn't work though. WTF?

I purposely did not play the radio when I drove it so I could listen for weird noises from the car. I just left the faceplate in the console, assuming it would be ok. Must be a fuse.

Excellent work Jon! It looks great! I'm just curious why you didn't powder coat the panels in your oven? Is it hard to match, and blend an existing color with powder coat paint? I know that the paint stores take a chip of paint, and computer match their paint.

Well, the closest powder mixer is in Colorado. Color matching powder cost 250.00 matching fee, plus a minimum of 30 lbs --@ 10.00 per lb
Unless you get lucky with an "off the shelf" color this can be very tricky to accomplish.

So, paint it is.

Besides, the bumper is rubber.
