Where HT means halftrack:

ex_ht.jpg

I figure if i get another early-model ex, i can get all the parts i need from it. The trickiest part would probably be the suspension. I imagine having two sets of rims, one with standard tires and the other for use with the treads. Please forgive the poor editing job, my Photoshop skills aren't up to par with my imagination.

Anybody seen anything like this before? I don't have the capital, time, or means to do this now, but I will either accomplish this sometime in the next few years or i will fail miserably trying.

Can you still turn with those things on?

How much are they?

I want em!!

Tandem Axle Dodge

I saw a Dodge at the sand dunes here in CO. a few weeks ago. It looked like a 3/4 or 1 ton. Flippin huge and ugly as all get out.

Pretty sweet though I will give em that.

Mattracks are SICK. Those would be so much fun here in the winter. No more snowmobliin to the backcountry, shoot we'll just drive!

Bucu Bucks

MyExpWork,

You want to know how much they will damage your childrens (not to say you have any) college find?

I went to 4 years of college for about the same price as these cost.

I talked to the salesmen and they have applicaions that will fit an Explorer, Ranger, Cherokee (they are all the same model) and the like. Up to 1/2 ton.

They run from $22,000 to $27,000 US Dollars new.

They have a old set for an Explorer they are willing to get rid of for a cool $14K delivered. They are about 3-4 years old and have never been used.

I agree they are really cool. The salesman compared them to buying a fleet of snowmobiles as we already own the Explorer, right?
Good investment for a family or a person with a winter cabin. I would rather have 6 people pile in the Ex. rather than buy 6 snowmobiles.

Are they gold plated? I think I'd get a new explorer before I buy those. I was thinking like $5,000.00. You really need a use for them for that price.

Thanks for the info though.

Brian

Yup!

I don't need them though my jaw hit the floor when he mentioned the price levels. Then he said "Is that kind of what you were expecting?" I said "Yes, I was guessing about 20ish"; just to be nice. He was a bit prying though, but not offensive.

They seem sweet, that is such a huge footprint they would be perfect on snow and sand.

I think that they are more for companies that have a use for them.

Watch the videos on the website they are cool...

Mattracks are nice..remind me of a Case tractor I saw a year or two ago. But for that price, I could build my design with some $ left over. Steering would probably be an issue - i wonder if military halftracks have differential steering on the tracks or if they just use the front wheels.

Yea they are nice. This guy said they are super low maintainance. Imagine seeing a truck driving around town with those. They are also DOT Certified which is pretty impressive though you can only go 40mph.

If I had a butt load of $$ I would split some with my ranger buddies for the ski season. That would be flippin redick...

I wonder how long those tracks last - on snow they probably last a long time, but if you took those on the road or hard ground the rubber would probably get torn up, especially in front. Replacement tracks are probably a couple grand by themselves.

I saw those originally on TRUCKS! on TNN. Very impressive offroad performance when mounted on a Dodge Ram.

now thats pretty tight! bet it gets a lot of attention, and probably climbs well, too

Anybody remember the Dodge Ram T-Rex? That thing was just plain mean lookin. Too bad they never produced it...
