Ditto, and get the old tire back, to discard at the dump. Some tire shops will sell all used tires, if they have some tread on them.

I would swap that spare tire out ASAP. No reason to figure out if it is good or bad. No reason to have it fail at the wrong time.
If you are running 235/70r16, you can buy new ones for around $67.
If you want the tire shop to dispose of the tire, use a hole saw on the sidewall.

@CDW6212R, during the Firestone recall, I was at a tire dealer, and noticed a lot of tires with a noticeable hole in the sidewalks in their junk tire pile. I asked what that was about, and was told that they were required to hole saw the sidewall. Not sure if it was company policy, or Firestone policy...
