Today I installed my sirius satellite radio adapter to my aftermarket HU. My headunit remote turn-on/off has not been working so I wired a switch in there for my amp and sirius adapter. The car worked fine last night.

On my way to go and get my NFL picks at the local store, I try to start the car and NADA. All I hear is clicking from either the solenoid or starter relay. I test the battery for voltage (even tho everything in the car turns on) and I am receiving 12 V. I tried the pump shut off, that isnt it. I tapped the hell out of the starter....still not working. I tried the two keys I have, neither work. I tested the started for voltage, however I could not get ANY sort of reading because of the black probe on the multimeter was not grounded correctly? The engine fan does turn while the car is being "started"...so this brings me to believe that is cannot be the starter

Help please

you need to make sure you have power and ground at the starter. if you dont then repair accordingly. if you do then that starter is probably stuck on a flat spot. i've seen this alot at our shop. you could always take your starter out and have it tested. if you live near an Advance Auto Parts they do it there. good luck

I feel like an idiot, after a wasted day with this thing....I said what the hay and tried to charge the battery, even tho it showed 12.5 Volts on my meter. Low and behold, the damn thing cranked right up...i'm assuming that I need a new battery now.
