Need help identifying engine component

Can anyone tell me what this is? On mine, the tube is broken off at the elbow and it's just hanging there. Top picture is how it's supposed to look I'm think and the bottom is mine. Is this important?

Vacuum operated " heater bypass valve", or "coolant bypass valve"

You can fix that easy. Pull the broken piece out of the rubber elbow. Insert grey line back in.

The line "should" be barbed like the original. However it will probably hold ok with the hose just stick back in.

Yes, ? Is the heat on the the cab?. The vacuum source goes thru the temperature control knob.
Put tape on the hose to seal it of a drill the size of the hose ID.

I fixed it and my AC is blowing super cold now. Thanks for the help
