Need help urgent front diff air locker

Sorry it took a while to respond I kind fall off the face of the earth for a couple weeks then find my way back.

C-Clip- Axle cannot be removed with C-clip installed

Cir-Clip-(very generic name short for circle clip) Axle is retained but can be removed with a sharp pull collasping the clip and allowing the axle to slide out.

Thanks mate!;)

At the end, I end up installing a Auto Locker as there no Air Locker will fit or suitabke for Dana 35 IFS....

I found that there's 2types of Dana 35 and in Explorer 1997 no such thing will fit any air/e-locker....

A CAD diff from a 95-early 96 might help you. It is essentially the same diff with a vacuum disconnect to the passenger axle which "opens" it when turned off. This allows free spin also while in 2wd.

Edit--ooops. By passenger side I meant right side. I assume yours is right hand driver-so driver side.

may I ask what is CAD diff? sorry mate....

but my front diff does not have a vacuum its just an open diff D35 but I heard it has 2types of D35...

but still I would love to get either Air lockers or E-lockers for my front, now when I have the Auto lockers I am worried It may worn out my tyres quicker... ;(

CAD- Center Axle Disconnect

Same principle as a locking hub just unlocks one axle shaft to allow the driveshaft to stop spinning the transfer case.

Same principle in an explorer even though this is a dodge.

I get ya! that sounds good but which model has this CAD and it would fit on my gen2 explorer... that would be a solid axle or IFS..?

As I stated in my earlier post, you'll find one in a 95-early 96 4wd explorer. It is essentially the same thing, and will bolt right in provided the gear ratio matches yours. You will have to acquire the vacuum reservoir and vacuum lines also. There is also a tiny bit of wiring but it is an easy swap.

oh I see, thank you heaps!

Ill just gonna look and search if we have this early 95-96 explore here in down under.....

thanks mate!;):thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

thanks!

I just did my research and we don't have an explorer here under 97.. all gen2 ;(

Any other option...?

We have a pretty good network (family) here. I bet you could find one and have it shipped to you. You might post up a "wanted" thread in the classifieds sub forum and see what happens.
The whole batch of stuff should fit into a 35 gallon ( 33"x21"x21") sized storage tub and weigh about 75lbs or so if this helps you to figure a rough shipping price. I "think" it could be mailed to you.

Hope this helps.

just thinking another option, would it be easier for me to get a kit to make it a manual hub? could you please lead me into it where to look the thread about this conversion...

Im thinking if I do this CAD which is a good idea (no need for me to get out and lock it) but it means I have to replace all the bearings again and swap the Auto locker and I heared this model CAD diff 95-96 has a reverse rotation gear right...?

but if I go to the option 2, just to change the front hub and C.V axles right...?

sorry mate I asked too much, just need your expertise :thumbsup::salute:

Yes. Look for AVM manual hub conversion. :thumbsup:

I believe it consist of new cv axles, spindles ( knuckles) , and of course the hubs.

thank you !

thanks for all your help guys.... :salute:

just a quick question:

Does the brown wire mods helps at all from stress on the C.V Axles if you have a Auto Locker on the front...?

Just trying to work it out, I know if you have a brown wire mods then that only disconnect the auto drive on the front wheel but the Auto Locker are still lock and still have stress on the C.V Axles when you turn.... (please correct me If I am wrong)

Thank you! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I have to think it would ratchet without any torque being applied to it. Since the drive shaft would be free, I wonder if the locker would even lock at all?

Seems like this might be a good work around for you. :thumbsup:
