I'm looking to replace the front wheel bearings on my 93 Explorer 4x4 and was wondering if someone could list all the parts I needed as well as any additional information the Haynes manual didn't cover.

I am getting different info from different people saying I needed 2 wheel bearings per side vs. 1 per side. Also, what are the races they are referring to? Do I also need seals? Thanks for all your help.

you need 2 bearings per side, inner and outer. The race is the cup the bearing sits in. The bearings are tapered so they slide into the cup to form a circle. You need a hub tool, manual or auto hub tools are different. and a screwdriver, pliers, a big ass bar to get the old bearing cups out and there is a special tool used to put them back in. I used a 3" socket and it worked great. And of course you need wheel bearing grease. Be prepared to spend alot of time getting the old cups out and putting the new cups in. they are a tight fit.

forgot to say you need new wheel seals too. 1 for each side
