This what I've done to my 99 Sport:
Ghost flames, Body color flares and bumpers, Limited grille, Lowered 2", widen track, Custom taillights and a "Ford Explorer" spoiler.

What I'm looking for is a more aggressive hood, front bumper and roll pan.

Thanks,
matt

OH, and his Explorer is way more faster and powerful then when these pics we're taken, once he's allowed back at the track he'll easily be in the 10's.

What do you mean by "widened track"?

Hoods: I think there are a couple of aftermarket ones out there. You can always add a cowl or scoops to what you have. I believe TROLL makes one. PUR PONY just had a nice cowl hood made, try searching for it. Roll pans and front bumpers are not made in the aftermarket except a couple of airdams for the front. There is a recent thread of a "homemade" rollpan made from the bumper on here, you may want to search for it.

I've widened the rear by about 2" each side using spacers. The offset of the wheels put the center of the tire about an 1" out from the hub. It's a little more wear and tear on the bearings. I'm glad bearings are cheap...Just kidding. I recently did a front brake job and inpected the bearings which showed no signs of wear.
You might think I'm nuts but I out cornered a mid 90's Lexus 400 the other day..Was he pissed!!

Here's a pic of the rear. Have you ever notice that the rear flares for the Sport seem to stick out way too far?? Well I matched up the outside of the tire to out side of the flare.

thats a nice truck! you widened your track, but you didn't really widen it too. i think saying that you widened it is a little misleading, people with 35 by 12 inch tires don't say they widened their cars, nor do i with about a 2.5 inch wider track from KMC's and wider scorpion zeros. that said i saw you over at fordtruckworld and i really like your truck. do you have any performance mods?

as for the hood and roll pan- good luck unless you feel like building them yourself or paying someone locally to do it. i don't think troll's hood ever actually went into production because there wasn't enough demand and there are no other direct bolt-on options. the roll pan issue is one we have discussed over and over again recently and the answer thus far has always been to just make one (the best results come from modifying the f150 pan)

for the front end- the only thing you can really do is get the EE front airdam. for the 99 and up that is really the only option i know of that looks halfways decent. its just too bad it is way overpriced. if you really want to get creative though swapping in a 99 and up 4wd ranger front end would be really cool.

Glad you liked the truck. I was thinking of modifing my hood to accept the Bullit hood scoop. The only thing is that it might look like I'm tring to hard to look like the "Bullit" Mustang. So...I was thinking a twin scoop.

i say go for the "Bullit Explorer". you would be the only one, as the rest of us are "Cobra Explorers". lol

have thought of the grill inserts

Have you checked out the diamond mesh inserts for the front grill or actually replacing the entire front grill with a billett aluminum grill. They make some aftermarket options for the x. You might try ebay. There are a couple of independent dealers the have these on the site with pics. Or even clear corners for the front and some euro clears for the rear?

Everyone and there mother has the inserts....no really. I buddy of mine at work, his mom has a Exlorer with grill inserts. Thats why I went with the limited grill. In 99 the limited has the same grill as a standard Explorer but with a bumper cover for a bumper. I already have clear corners on it now. I had the clear tail lights but I did like the way they looked on a all black truck. I decided to tint them black.

Has anyone tried to suicide their rear 2 doors (4 door models)? I'm thinking about doing that to mine when the handles get shaved off, if it's possible.

I figure, like the old VW bug you can just swap the hinges and locks between the pass and driver side. If it works it's cheaper than the kits that I saw online for about $400.

Hum, that's alot of work. I'd rather put all the effort into something diffrent.

Just my $.02

wow! i really like your X, and those ghost flames look awesome!

About the hood,check out
http://www.cardomain.com/id/timestandstil77

he used a mustang gt hood scoop, but i believe they are the same as the bullits (or very close anyway), and it looks really good IMO. he's a member here to, u might wanna PM him or something....

About the spacers in the back, i know what your saying about the fender flares being super wide in the back. With my 18's and toyos it fills it better, but could probably use another inch or two, thanks for the idea. I didnt really get your bearing joke, are spacers usually supposed to ruin your bearings? Last time i had my bearings replaced it was liek 400 bucks and i dont want to do that....but i figure if i could get some really nice and safe billet spacers, i may try to run an inch spacer or something.

Thanks! I acually bought that hood scoop on e-bay. The only thing diffrent I'm going to modify the hood to create a "V" in the center. If you look at a mustang hood theres a "V" body line that leads to the scoop. Bolting it on just looks fake IMO.
If you buy a large spacer and the back spacing of the wheel is too short the center of the tire is too far out. That causes extra wear on the outer bearing. Alot of Mexicans who toss on the 13" wheels that stick out past the fender all have that problem.
