OK. Well I am not 100% sure but I think at least one of my subs has seen its life. Getting some distortion and vibration noises I never had before. Guess I will take it to a pro to be 100% sure. But I am trying to decide if I should ditch the enclosure and get a stealth enclosure. I just bought a house and I miss having the storage/carrying capacity of the rear cargo area. Can't decide if I should just swap the speakers for new/better ones, or if I should go stealth... How would a stealth box compare? Currently I have two 10" Orion subs with .85' of enclosure volume each. Would a JL with a 10W6 hit hard and have great spl? I had thought about that and mounting my amps behind the rear pannels. I would lose my nice storage space for my tools, but I could just bungee a toolbox back there, or cut a hole in the floor and weld a sunken box in the body (might be cool) or make one for the outside to mount on my tire carrier.

What do you all think of the hidden enclosures? How is the J/L enclosure with the W1 in it?

If you care concerend about subs taking up a bunch of space look at the Boston Acoustics Competitor series woofers. The 2ohm SVC 12" performs at optimum 1 cu fot of airpsace in a sealed enclosure with about 500 W of power. They are amazing woofers< I have 1 -12" at 400W and it makes my old 2-Soundstream SPL 12's in a 4.5' box look stupid. and I get my cargo space back! This box it tiny, I can "toss" it into the back seat, lay the back seats down and put it in the front pass seat, set it next to the campfire, whatever I want....

YES YES YES YES. Boston Acoustics makes some of the finest quality speakers and subs I've ever heard, but no one on this site seems to use them except me. They are pricey, I will admit that, but if you're looking for quality theyu're the way to go. You might want to check out an MTX thunderform too, they're very space efficient.

I use them. I know all about them. I had a set of BA 6" components in my first car back in 1992. Then BA quit making car stereo stuff, then they started again.

Those old 6's and therofluid cooled tweets outperformed any other components I have heard since. they also lasted me for about 6 years.

The competitor series woofers are some of the best on the market today.

i run a Boston Acoustic Pro 2ohm,10" sub. (10.5lf)
Its great. With only .5 cubic foot needed, makes for a compact little box. Great sounding for all ranges of music, from light stuff like Sting, to all kinds of metal and rap.

Depends on the Dbs you want. Two 10" MTX 6000s will cost the same as one Boston 10" Pro. With the two 10s, you have twice the surface area pushing. Depends on how loud you need it. My one 10 fills the car, but won't set off alarms. Don't want to anyway though.

Just rambling, sorry

BA has a three way component system which sounds awesome...and the just released a two-way concentric component system which sounds pretty good........
But about subs........
I've got the stealthbox with a 10W6 and a 500/1 running it. It sounds awesome! None of my friends can believe I have one 10" sub for my whole system. It really thhumps. I don't jam the volume to the max because it's so powerful. Check them out!
If you were in New England, I'd come find you! Or maybe if I do, you cna help me lift my Explorer like you did yours!

I was thinking of going that direction with the w6. I may still keep my setup and replace the subs, but I bet in a few weeks I will go that direction and just use the tiedowns in the rear for a toolbox.
