I ’m in the process of replacing the motor in my 1999 xlt auto, with a late model crated motor. All the bits and pieces have been changed and the motor is in the engine bay, but I can’t line the motor up to the gear box .
Can some one point me in the right direction on how to do this.
Does the gearbox have to be moved backwards so the motor will line up with the engine mounts. I’ve tried many searches on this and I can’t seem to find any thing on how to install a motor.

Well, thanks for the help, or not. I finally got the motor lined up with the gearbox and bolted up. I’m disappointed with the lack of response to my questions, which has been posted in several places. This sight has grown so big that by the time you post a question , ten more are in front of it and it gets lost in the mix. If I don’t log on for a week there are 3000 unread posts to look at.
I’ve managed to get the motor installed and I am now just finishing bolting up all the bits and pieces together.
So to the answer to my own question. The gearbox mount was removed, a jack was placed under the gearbox and the gearbox moved back about 1/2in. Then the motor dropped into place and the gearbox was levered back into place and bolted to the motor. Not hard at all once you know what to do.

Although the new post listing is daunting, the subsequent sorting out into the forum bins makes it more manageable. Perhaps the knowledgeable people were tied up in holiday festivities or the RH drive aspect nullified an experienced reply.

At any rate, pictures and a write-up along with particulars like engine type/size will aid the next person searching. :biggthump

Your only supposed to post one thread with each question, and often multiply threads get ignored. Plus it was a major holiday. I'm sure that complaining about the response will surely help next time.

Thanks for the replies fellows. I asked for help early in November with no reply.
At least I received a response this time. Happy New Year all.
