ok right now im running my truck with all kinds of lift parts, but i have 6" of lift, and im running 33's right now, and have stupid 3.73 gears, right now all i have is exhaust flowmaster, and i got a list of performance mods, but i want to gain back all the stock power i had without regearing. because that will come when i swap in my d44 and 9" next spring, but hears the list

i-fab intake(only intake i could find for a 1st gen)
73mm vortech mas(cheapest one i could find)
66mm bbk throttle body
edelbrock shorty headers or heddman(only 2 affroadable from summit)
magnaflow high flow cat

along with my custom exhaust

maybe this winter ported intake manifold and heads but maybe not

should i have all my stock power back?

All of those mods help your high and mid range. Nothing to help the low end which is where you lost your power. You need to regear in order to get the engine into it's "sweet spot" otherwise you're lugging the engine. Without regearing you're not going to feel the benefits of your modifications until you start winding out the motor.

V8s can often get away with higher ratio gears since they produce more low end torque to begin with than a V-6.

Agreed. You probably should just deal with it until you regear it and put that axle under there.

Tripple ditto :p Regearing is the only way to regain the power you have lost.. What ratio are you going to run in your new axles?

Its not that those mods are a waste (they will help), but they will not give you a huge gain in performance while running 3.73s with 33 tires. No matter what engine modes you do it will still feel as if you're in the wrong gear (too high), much like trying to take off from a stop light while in 2nd or 3rd.

not that theyre a waste. its just that the gear ratio you are running is putting you out of your engines powerband. fixing that with a re gear would be a more productive way to go, then add the other stuff if you want

Edit: DeRocha beat me to it

Yeah what these guys said.
The headers are a waste though, & the 73mm MAS is a bit much. Your never going to move that much air unless you go FI.

after its all said and done for the above, you will have paid more than it would cost for a decent set of gears and you still wont ahve what you are looking for. just regear to 4.88, the 4.0 hasw plenty of grunt with those gears.
