I did a lot of searching but can't find an original design fan blade for the 3.0L engine. There's lots of them available for the 4.0L but 77% of the Aerostars came with the 3.0L engine - go figure. Anyway, I found a couple on Amazon for under $27 + shipping. Both of these claim to fit a 1996 Aerostar XLT 3.0L
Have a look:

Flex-a-lite 1018 Dark Blue Star Aluminum Blade 18" Low Profile Belt Fan

Flex-a-lite 418 Black Nylon 18 3/8" Belt Driven Fan

If you pad the order over $35, the shipping is free.

Best of luck.

This is working link to the "Parts Geek" from Post #45 . You have to scroll all the way to the bottom past all the blades listed for the 4.0L engines to find the fan blade for a 3.0L. $43.35 for Hayden Part Number: 4944-07027008

It might be cheaper to buy one from Amazon and pay for the shipping.
(It sure doesn't like The Parts Geek without the spaces)

I tried searching at Rock Auto - they have fan clutches but no fan blades listed.

does that big metal fan bolt up to the stock fan clutch the fan for the 4.0 looks like it would bolt up

Here's a trick that will help you get the fan off very quickly. Connect a Vise Grip onto the lip of the water pump pulley, and let it press against the bracket. Get a fan clutch wrench, box wrench or an adjustable wrench, and put a pipe over it. You could even use a piece of PVC pipe if you don't have an iron pipe. Remember that the thread is left handed when you apply pressure to unscrew it. You should be able to break it loose instantly, then turn it by hand to remove it.

iv been to two different yards and cant find a good fan blade or any thing for the rims

My favorite yard hasn't gotten an Aerostar in for sometime and they crushed a few they had. I suppose with the last ones rolling off the line 16 years ago, the supply is drying up.

I think that the supply decreased severely with the cash for clunkers program.

I have at least 25 Aerostars between the three yard by me theres more yards a bit out but not to far of a drive im not driving that far out for a fan

The 1996 Aerostar Made finely made it to 60,000

I've been following along on another post that's saying you should be prepared to see it start over at 300,000 miles after it goes past 399,999. :D
