New brakes....issues

I just had my rotors turned and cleaned EVERYTHING!! also i had one bad caliper(boot was cracked) that was bad! so i replaced them both! i love warrenties! i put everything back together! bled the brakes got great pressure before the car was started! then as i took it for the test drive, i had very little pressure and then as i was coming back to my house i heard this noise, i am assuming its the back pad on the front brakes! i am assuming that the caliper is opening to much or something.............. also i am not sure if theres something other the four brakes i should bleed? anything???

The rears are drums.
Did you do anything to those?

umm well i bled the rear as well as the front! i started with the front just to get some pressure in them, but then went back to the rear and re-did them all! nothing else was done to the rear! do you think i should re-bleed the brake system again?
maybe while the abs is running? i dunno

glacier was telling me that theres a hydrolic pump or something for the brake system i am not sure of it, cause i have never heard anything about it till him!

Do you have a haynes or Chiltons book?
Brakes are not something you want to trust to guesswork.

the ABS pump is covered on this site all the time, however if you do all 4 brakes properly you shoul not have to mess with the ABS pump.

You were having brake problems before you even dod this correct?
You had a pad falling out?

Did you re-install the anti-rattle clips on the rear pads in the front?

no there was no pad fallin out! well a while back there was a noise and i found out that the wheel bearings weren't properly tightend when this place changed the brakes! umm i will rebleed them and i have never seen a post on the abs pump! i will search for it i guess!

you have ALOT of options when it comes to buying a power bleeder. You can also pay a brake place $20-40 or so to powerbleed it for you.

Why do you want a power bleeder?

You cannot bleed the fronts and then the back and expect it to have pressure.

i didn't do it like that! where did you get that from??? and where should i go to get them bled? i talked to a play and they suggested going to the ford dealer! i was like umm HOLY ****! but i would like it done today! lol i miss driving my ex!

How much air would you guess entered the system? When you replaced the caliper did you max out the brake fluid to prevent it from getting too low (thus allowing air to enter the master cyclinder?). Once air gets into the MC it is a PITA to get out. I would bleed the brakes exactly as fortune stated. Are you bleeding the brakes by yourself, or with the help of a buddy? I would run at least a quart of fluid through the system.

i did it with my dad actually so i had the help! when i replaced the calipers i lost alot of fluid there for i am guess alot of air would be there right?................... i think i might have to pay the place the money to do this one.............

Bleed the master cylinder with a pump. You can get a cheap pump from autozone.

That would be it... you let the master cylinder get too low now air is in the system at the highest point. You'll most likely need to remove the MC and bench bleed it to remove the air trapped inside.. Basically the shape of the MC and angle it sits in the engine compartment causes air to get trapped inside. The bench bleeding procedure should be in the Haynes manual. If you want to try and remove the air manually you can get a few quarts of brake fluid and bled as fortune stated.. Bleeding is not a quick process and will take an hour to do.. Put the clear platic tube over the bleeder valve and then slowly step on the brake pedal. At the same time crack up the bleeder and close the bleeder before the brake guy completely bottoms the pedal (helps prevent fluid from being redrawn into the system). Repeat the above at least a dozen times @ each wheel (checking the fluid leve every 3 press of the brake pedal).

Next time when you work on the brakes only work on one component at a time and work quickly to prevent the loss of any fluids...Keep checking the brake fluid reservoir and max the fluid to the very top (no harm as you will be removing it by bleeding later).
