My '98 Explorer right now is dead because the recalls weren't taken care of. Now I need head work or a new engine. Does anybody have V6 SOHC 4.0L engine that is for sale? Also, do they make these in DOHC? If so, is it an easy bolt-up and what other sensors do I need?

Thank you, stay safe! :exp: Zack

Check ebay. You should be able to find what you are looking for at a decent price. Also they do not make a v6 DOHC for the Explorer.

That's awesome.. but figuring out the details would be hard. Where are you from?

How many miles are on the motor? Ford extended the warranty on the SOHC motor quite a bit. The last posted warranty was 7 years, 70,000 miles, and they quietly extended it to 100,000. This is for the cam tensioner issue. If you have under 100,000 on the vehicle, I'd be looking at making Ford do the work as a warranty/recall issue.
