Ok...so I bought this Explorer...i love it...it had a problem with the IAC, turns out when the motor was replaced from a 4.0SOHC it was replaced to a 4.0EFI and the IAC sensor is proprietary...that or I just had 2 bad replacements...(they actually spliced the wire from the EFI to put in the one for the SOHC - causing lots of trouble...and didn't even put in a gasket) OK - fixed that problem, then went through the wiring diagram for my truck, spent hours tracing wires because of an IAT mal-code...ended up trying to bypass all the splices to the PCM by a direct wire after the last splice...only to find out - the damn wire was pulled out of the connector...replaced that - works great...

the next task i need to tackle is proving really tricky...I'm showing a C1095 on my code reader...I know it's a Hydraulic pump circuit malfunction...but I'm not interested in tracing wiring diagrams and wires for another 3 hours - does anyone have any pointers that I can look into to possibly cut this project in half? I'm really looking forward to taking a 100% working truck to Florida next week, and am frustrated with doing things the hard way :banghead:

make sure the pressure switches at the brake controller are making good contact. pull them off and put some tuneup grease in there. Make sure there is no corrosion. If all that checks out ok, then check the actual brake controller motor. You test it by hooking it up to a 12v power source to see it if runs. You may also want to check the fuses for the brake system.

My uncle gave me a Snap-On Scanner - doesn't do as much as an NGS, but gives me codes...I went through a series of checks (drove 20mph - then stood on the breaks) I'm not sure what the BOO-ABS is, but it changes from disabled to on when i stand on the breaks, and back off when i stop...the ABS Pump stays Disabled, and naturally the abs doesn't work...I'll check out the connectors, i hope I don't have to replace the pump

let us know how it works out...

well...I never got to the point of checking the pressure sensers...I took the Hydraulic motor off, i'm guessing just a standard 12V motor - It moves freely enough...took a wire and plugged it into the battery positive and a ground to see if the motor worked - not even a hum...so i'm gonna go pick up a test this junkyard motor - see if it works, then try slappin' that in there...hopefully, i'll be done with this truck tonite

Heads up - Thanks for all the help, the C1095 was actually the HCU Motor...it just didn't work...plugged it into the battery, and it didn't spin, or even TRY to hum...so I called ford ($1,600 for the HCU, can't buy motor seperately)

So i saved $1,550 by going to U-Pull-It plugged the motor in over there, it worked...funny thing - i just put the whole HCU on...the junkyard motor worked, but the computer side didn't, so I had to dissect them and Frankenstein them together...it took 30 minutes of playing 'stand on the breaks' next to a lake before the abs light turned off and i stopped when i said stop...

Now...anyone wanna buy a 1998 Explorer Sport? In Atlanta...3,000 OBO - 80K miles on engine, 290 on Tranny (engine replaced)

0 error codes, small sub/amp - needs new head-unit (head unit amp blew out) but the side speakers are damn near brand new...CLEAN TITLE!!
