New guy here. Having a 5r55e problem that’s drive me crazy

I’m thinking the fluid is a little crappy cause I was playing with the band adjustments and I think some of that is from the bands. But when it was on the stands I power break’d it a little and it wanted to move the tires.

Did you use a 1/4" drive In/Lb torque wrench on the valve body bolts? Were they tightened in a criss cross order? Did you use the correct length bolts in their proper places?

Used my 3/8ths drive snap on torque wrench and also made a little map for when I took the bolts out and torqued them down from the center out

Alright guys. New update.

Replaced valve body gasket
Replaced all solenoids
New filter.
New oil

Just got done putting new solenoids in. Filled the fluid and put it in drive and it went in. Put it in reverse and it also went in. Put it back in drive and nothing.

Just out of curiosity, how many miles are on it?

206k. I just bought it about 6 weeks ago. It ran fine till I put a new tranny filter in and replaced fluid along with a quart of lucas.

206k. But it didn’t start doing this till I changed the filter and oil along with a quart of lucas. Just got the truck about 6 weeks ago.

If that's the original trans, it's probably long done at that mileage. I would think it's maybe even been rebuilt before at the mileage

Ok that would make sense if it didn’t do it before I changed the filter and fluid. Plus when I just put it back together it went right into D. Then back into reverse. Then it wouldn’t go back into D. I guess I’m just gonna bite the bullet and get a transmission for it. Maybe just sell the damn truck. Hate to though cause it’s in really good shape and the motor runs like a top.

Check the main pressure, and the EPC pressure ports with a 0 - 300 PSI test gauge.
