I train dogs for police and personal protection and I frequently find myself in low light conditions during training scenarios. It sure would be nice to have some extra lighting up front. I miss the spotlight on my old ex-police Crown Vic, but I don't think my Sport would look right with an A-pillar spotlight on it, nor do I want to cut a hole in it. I've seen some X's with lights on top of the bumper. I don't want to spend the money for a full brush gaurd and was wondering what are the pros and cons you guys have found with bumper mounting. Or are there other inexpensive ways/places to mount the lights? Pics would be great!!

They make the light wing for under $100 bucks;)

If you mount it right on the bumper like mine, just make sure the lights you get/have aren't too thick. On mine, if my lights were any thicker, they would be touching the grill and not be adjustable up or down. I'm not sure on the 2nd gen, how much room is on the top of the bumper though.

I like that light wing! I've been wanting to get a license plate bracket too. This would solve both. Do they have it in anything other than chrome?

Get the Pro Comp slim lights, they are inexpensive and pretty bright if you get the clear lens. Thats what I have on mine and I have tons of adjustability.

Ive heard bad things about the CARR light wing, you would think its made of metal but its made of plastic and if you bump someone or someone bumps you (even parking) the wings break.

Great thing about those Pro Comp 55's is you can throw 100 watt bulbs in them for a few bucks;)

Thanks guys! Looks like I'll be adding a couple of those slim lights. It's a shame about the light wing being plastic. It looked pretty cool.

Daylighters will rub the grille on a 2nd gen. I had to build an extender for mine from some stainless steel round stock, and use some longer carriage bolts in the housing. The work was well worth the effort!

150-watt sealed-beam Daylighters (taken at the same time as the other ones... notice how much darker the surroundings are due to the camera)

Count the extra telephone poles beyond the main spot of the beams!!
