after this rainy week this weekend would prolley be amazing there if only i could but you guys should for sure

I would totally make it out there this weekend except a)Saturday is warped tour and b)I reeeallly don't trust the brakes on the the 92 I just picked up. Spongy, squeaky and down right scary.

This weekend is a no-go for me. I'm still trying to get an M5OD for my trans swap. Last 2 I went to check out were FUBAR. First one guy said it was 4x4 and it wasnt, second one the guy said "the shifter is a little sloppy" only to find out that the shifter was snapped off inside the trans and ate up some of the gears.

So who would be down this weekend? Sunday maybe?

Sunday might work, depending on how shot I am and if I get the brakes fixed on the new Ex. Where would we meet? Wharton?

I supposse so, I have never been there but that sounds good. Isn't there a ranger station out there? We could nmeet there, and I heard they can give us trail maps and such.

If you guys want to wait a week, I'll be ready to go for the 25th no problems. I bought a 1993 sport 5spd manual everything for a parts truck and I'll be getting it on my next day off. From that point swapping the transmissions will be a no brainer, with both trucks next to each other in my yard and my air tools, it'll be cake. Plus some buddies helping, I'll be running in no time.

sounds good to me, I've waited thus far to pop my Wharton/Offroading cherry so another week is nothing! Good luck with the transaction and the tranny swap, and welcome to the world of sport =P

Haha it'll be a good time. I'm going to see if my buddy Bret wants to come along as navigator, he knows good places. Also gonna talk to some pirate4x4 guys to see if they wanna come/can give us directions to Frenchies and 1/4 mile pass. Frenchies is fun for climbing and flexin, 1/4 mile is the mud and water.

Navigator sounds pro! Haha I'd be driving in circles without some type of guidance out there. Looking forward to the good time, glad I'm going to get a chance to go before I head north for the school year!

Just wanted to put this out there:

To any and all who want to go to Wharton for the 25th, This is a list of things that I'd like you to bring and/or have. Since I'll probably be the "biggest" truck there, I'll also probably be doing the recovery work.

Please, for the love of god, have a trailer hitch or some sort of solid tow point. If you don't have a hitch, that's fine, just make sure you know where your tow points are. If you don't have any tow points, go to the local junkyard, get yourself some tow hooks off of an expedition or something, and mount those *****es.

Bring food and water. We don't run to wawa in the middle of the day, but we do stop and eat lunch on the trails.

Bring tow straps! Please, please, PLEASE bring tow straps. I have one and will be getting another, but every truck should have on as a rule of thumb.

If you have a CB radio, bring it. If you don't, I have 1 handheld one that can be given to the looser who doesn't have a radio. If you don't have a CB, you can get a nice one from Walmart for $30 and the antenna is $10 at radioshack.

I bring a gallon of spare fluids with me (trans, oil, water for drinking and radiator, brake fluid, and PS fluid) just in case.

Bring a trash bag. Whatever you take into the park comes out with you.

Make sure your spare is in decent shape. Before going 4x4in drop that **** down and make sure it's aired up and not dead. Along with your spare, now's the time to check all fluids. You don't need to give your truck an oil change and all before going out, but check and make sure all fluids are at good levels. Check your 4x4 for proper operation, etc.

This is a good list to go over before going offroading ANYWHERE. I am trained in first aid and whatnot, and I have a full first aid kit in my truck at all times. I also pack a fire extinguisher, just in case. Follow these basic guidelines and come prepared, that way we can all have fun and not worry about getting F'd up by Murphy and his laws.

and always fill up on gas before =]

There's a gas station right by Wharton, correct? I think I'm still going to bring a jerry can since the gas gauge doesn't work in my truck.

Also, bring tools. Socket set, any spare parts you have laying around, etc. I hydrolocked the last time I ran the Wharton trails (damn you, cone filter!) and needed to pull my plugs. If you don't already carry them at all times, don't be caught without, at the very least, some basic tools.

well there are a few station near wharton but always keep it full cuz the trails go back a ways and you dont wanna hafta run out in middle of the day for fuel haha so yea always fill up and tools of course

I'm afraid I'm out for this one. Gotta work. :(

Edit:

I had requested off sunday, and got it, and then someone said they couldn't come in for some reason and I HAD to work that day.

anytime peopel want to go in wharton let me know. I';ve been running the trails with my pops since I was born (almost 29 years ago). I grew up in Atco with a backyard bordering the forest. Can't say theres a trail I haven't been down. Over my years of running stuff from as small as a bone stock beater saturn out there, to a 79 bronco on 49" michelins I think i have covered everything. I now live in Hamilton Twp, inbetween Hammonton and Mays Landing:D

Any one still up for the 25th?
