Please, for the love of god, have a trailer hitch or some sort of solid tow point. If you don't have a hitch, that's fine, just make sure you know where your tow points are. If you don't have any tow points, go to the local junkyard, get yourself some tow hooks off of an expedition or something, and mount those *****es.
Bring food and water. We don't run to wawa in the middle of the day, but we do stop and eat lunch on the trails.
Bring tow straps! Please, please, PLEASE bring tow straps. I have one and will be getting another, but every truck should have on as a rule of thumb.
If you have a CB radio, bring it. If you don't, I have 1 handheld one that can be given to the looser who doesn't have a radio. If you don't have a CB, you can get a nice one from Walmart for $30 and the antenna is $10 at radioshack.
I bring a gallon of spare fluids with me (trans, oil, water for drinking and radiator, brake fluid, and PS fluid) just in case.
Bring a trash bag. Whatever you take into the park comes out with you.
Make sure your spare is in decent shape. Before going 4x4in drop that **** down and make sure it's aired up and not dead. Along with your spare, now's the time to check all fluids. You don't need to give your truck an oil change and all before going out, but check and make sure all fluids are at good levels. Check your 4x4 for proper operation, etc.
