How often do you change your oil?

I recommend a search for this, as of recently there was a few threads floating around because of users using certain sythetics and the intervel they use. BTW I personally change around 4K or so, I run mobil syth., motorcraft filter.

5K I run full synthetic and Motocraft FL-1a filters.

It also depends on how I drive, if I go to Moab and back for a weekend, I will change it before and after the trip, and so on and so forth.. :)

I used to do 3500 miles but with full synth its really not needed I found. With full synth you could likely go 7500 too and be okay.

I run Castro Syntec only because Mobil one is too damn expensive anymore.
Castro is $17, Mobil is $24 for 5 quarts if I remember right

10k-15k miles, Amsoil Series 2000 0W30 and Amsoil spin-on filter.

3000 miles with Conventional oil and Purolator filter on my Explorer

I plan on switching to Full Syn on my T-bird and running 5000 mile intervals

Thanks, The shop I go to does I believe 4 quarts oil/1 quart syn, not sure which filter their using. I change around 4-5K. I'm figuring this should be ok. What do you think?

I too use a synthetic blend right from the stealership (yay free oil changes for a year with my purchase), I change around 4k 4.5k at the most. It's more a piece of mind thing, as they've told me I can go 5k and still have protection.

Every 3K miles or 3 months. Which ever comes first.

every 3k and i run Mobil 1 with either a penzoil, mileguard or fram filter
i work at jiffy lube, so its free and i use whatever filter we have in stock at the time

Walmart has the 5quart jug for $19 something if I remember right, and the extended is about the same

I'm using Mobil 1 Syn & Mobil 1 filter.....change every 7K miles.....all the researches I've done so far shows that you could go for 7-8K miles for full syn. I had a bmw M3 with full syn, they recommended 12K miles for oil change....go figure !

5k / Mobil 1 syn / Motorcraft

Four cars and trucks family. Synthetic oil and new filter every 6 months, regardless mileage. Oldest 1992 car 240,000km, zero engine problem. Oldest 1995 truck 285,000km zero engine problem. All daily drivers.

twice a year? :)
I vote for 3 times

However twice a year with synth is typically better then most people :)

Yeah, I am doing my part for the environment.
Also look at all the oil and filters money I saved over the life of the vehicles.
I have saved enough to take all of you out for a beer.
When I had my 1988 car before, I used to change once a year. Had no engine trouble with that one either until my daugther totalled that car. She was ok.

If you ever get a chance to open up two similar engines, one that had the oil serviced every 3-5K miles, and one who had it changed once a year or approx 10-12K miles, you would see the difference.

yes it is true there are people who never change their oil, maybe once a year, and their Toyota camery is still going strong with 300K miles, but um yeah I know better so I will stick with my 5K changes, its cheap insurance you are not saving $$$ by not changing it, instead you are taking a chance :)
OIl gets dirty quick, once its dirty it cycles the metal particles through the crankcase, metal on metal = wear.

every 5000 miles when i get my tires rotated and balanced

Just had it changed yesterday, they put in Motorcraft 5W 30W and a Motorcraft oil filter. They told me if I wanted Syn/blend Valvoline I believe, it would cost me about double. I will start to change at 3000 miles now instead of 4000 miles.
