ok so im getting bored of the old 1998 EB explorer and want to work on it a little bit

anyone know of a fair priced way to lower it

i kno i can get flowmaster exhaust and duel tips. ( single pipe back with duel tips)

and i also was thinking about( not sure how often or if its been done ) making it a 5 speed...

its a 5.0 EB explorer...

You could do 5spd by getting the tranny from an F-150 but not sure how smooth of a swap that is, the plus side of that would be you have the ability of having a selectable t-case if yours is AWD. But you would have to pull your message center out as thats where the shifter should come up through.

The simplest way to drop the truck would be the torsion twist for the front, and adding a block between the leafs and the axle in the rear.

rick i got dual 40 series flows on my 01 sport and i believe i paid like 290 for them.

what series of flows u thinkin of getting

i was lucky i got 2 put duals on my 01 sport cause most of my friends that have explorers the muffler shop told them they cant get duals cause of the spare tire and some other stuff i forgot.

But i was lucky i still got my spare tire underneath my explorer

well i been lookin at 40 series ( to put in stock locatiojn i hear) then get a y pipe to run duel tips...

my dad was tellin me i can use a mustang 5 speed i have 2 wheeldrive so i cone need t case... but not sure how eay it would be goal would be to get better gas mileage and to make it a little more sporty

I moved this to the need for speed forum-
Take a look around the sport trucks forum, you'll find a lot of info for lowering your truck.
The need for speed section has information for performance mods-

Also-
Your father is partially correct-however the 5 speed is a much weaker transmission, and, it would require tuning (which you'll need anyway) to remove the transmission functions from the PCM

Do a search for " the 5.0 exhaust poll" thread also.

If you remove the Auto you will have to have a custom tune so you can turn off the CEL's which you will get. This will be a must.-j

Send that puppy to Astro Performance and let them put the A5 kit on it. It's their version of the G-Force kit for T5's. It's great for running steeper gears on Mustangs due to the (numerically) lower first gear and OD and is good to 550hp (IIRC).

EDIT: Be sure to figure out which Mustang T5 you need for the X. The input shaft on SN95's (94-95) is about 3/4" longer than the 87-93 fox bodies.
