Hi. I am considering buying a new Explorer 2015, xlt in White Platinum color, with the Appearance Package, liftgate and navigation options. The asking price for it right now is $37,609, but I put all the info required on KBB, including my zip code, 00769, and it tells me that I should pay between $36,165 and $38,128, the fair purchase price being $36,885. What should I do? The asking price with a "liquidating 2015 models offer" started at $38,495, and I got it lowered to $37,609.

Since you are buying new, compare to at least 3 other dealers. Some dealers have better 'incentives' on previous year models than others. Just take that info, go to another dealer, show them what you are getting and ask them if they have anything identical that's a better deal. It's a huge purchase so never hurts to ask around, it is your hard-earned money after all : )

I would start by emailing all the dealerships within a reasonable driving range and telling them exactly what you are after and having them quote you prices. Since its a new vehicle you can make the deal without ever seeing it if the price is right. Also, you can email the fleet managers as well and see if they have anything that meets your needs.

This way you have quotes in hand and can use them to try and price the vehicle down if you want.

What is the sticker price?

I bought mine in July '15 for just about 38k with the options you listed and moon roof, Ruby red and tow package. MSRP was 45k. I believe you may be able to get a better deal but, not by much. As far as what your deal is right now, it's not bad. :salute:
