Every time after startup there are no beeps no matter how long I let it idle until I place the shifter into forward or reverse and move out. At that reference point, 10 seconds later there is one beep and that's it. No dash indicators. What is the beep for?

DO you have an aftermarket stereo/radio installed?
Also check for aftermarket dealer/buy here pay here electronics installed when the vehicle is financed to allow quicker recovery when payments are not up to date. I used to install (for a friend that had a used car lot) an electronic ignition interrupter devices that could be remotely triggered if payments are not up to date, to keep the delinquent payment owner from starting the car, sometime these made a beep noise.
Could you give a more accurate description of the vehicle this is happening in?

No, always private owner and original radio.
It's what Turdle said. (Thanks) I have that message because resevoir has a leak in it, I think. I will have to take it out and have a look, but I'm nonadventurous now because it is winter, it is cold even though I need the washers to get road spray off. Figure that one out, huh. What repair stuff sticks to that kind of poly to fix the crack that will actually stay adhered and not fail.

Loctite has a 2-part plastic bonding system, which is supposed to work on polyethylene and polypropylene. Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with this stuff!

OK. If I do have that in the garage, it is probably been there so long it is a prehistoric rock by now. I had to use some liquid steel the other day and the tubes were solid. I took the hair dryer to them and they managed to become soft enough to forcefully get a bit out and it managed to still work. I must confess that one time I used the stuff to secure a hand spring on a Pietta .44 cal 1860 Colt revolver. What a sinner I was!

Put your seat belt on! lol :) ...problem solved...
