Dunno if this qualifies as a whoops.. but I feel like tellin ya guys what happened last night..

Went out to the ice track.... there was a buncha people out there... had a blast.. towed 4 people out cuz they went off the track n got stuck.. haha.. (quite a few Ford's out there too, I saw a BII, an 2001 F250, 96 F150, and another F150 .. same gen) as I was leaving... taking the back roads to get back to my side of town.. I felt something weird.. as I was slowing to a red light from 40mph... something felt very very... wrong... I'm heading to the left sliding through this red light... look out my window.. (keep in mind, I'm cranked all the way to the right) and my wheel is making horrible noises (driver's side front) At first I'm thinking.. oh ****.. all that mobbing around toasted my new hub assembly and the wheel is about to fall off.. lol.. that wheel was completely locked up... I recover myself and pull into the gas station on the corner that was conveniently there...(was kinda difficult with a wheel locked up) it unlocked itself a few times but it was still difficult.. I couldn't figure out wtf was wrong... and then I saw it..... I'm missing a bolt that holds the caliper braket to the knuckle!!!

So to get back, I had to drive without using my brakes or that wheel would lock-up.. and to un-lock it.. I had to go in reverse for a moment... needless to say.. I was going very slow with my hazards on... downshifting when I had to slow... wow.. Got the bolt, put it in.. tightened Everything in that area and inspected.. we're good to go...

Guess how much Ford charged me for the bolt?

$11.25! *sigh*

Over-all though, it was a good night. A few people were impressed at my lightly modded truck. (No one here has modded a 2nd gen in this town.. other than typical appearance mods .. like rims..)

I've seen those "help" products, but never thought about taking a good look at them.

was it on the same side as when you changed your hub/bearing?

Yes........

See,
I told you you cannot trust your tired muscles to tell you it is tight. You need a torque wrench for Christmas. You should ask for one from Santa.
And, I don;t care what anyone says--USE RED LOC TITE ON THEM !!!

It's a sticky. please read this.

I think it has happened to just about all of us--so don't feel too bad.

I had to deal with an angry wife when it happened to me---er, her.

Luckily she was in the gas station parking lot when it happened.

Good to know I'm not alone... lol..

Yeah, I've read that sticky in the past. I'm going to start using loc-tite on certain things.

they warn to tighten those down extra tight. glad your alright :)

EDIT: beaten to it, guess i should have refreshed lol

Luckily no one was in the intersection when it all went down, although I did have a lil trouble at the 2nd intersection, had no choice but to run a stop sign... oh hell. I didn't even run it.. I slide through it.. un-voluntarily.. lol..
