I'm about to pick up a overhead console for my Ford Explorer 2000 XLS. I was wanting to know if anyone who recently installed a console on there explorer knows if the wiring harness is already up there or do I need to run my own. I've seen some post mentioned that ford usually runs the wires on all there vehicles to save time on the assembly line. I was also wondering where the temp sensor mounts on the front bumper, and if the wiring is out there also. It would really be great if someone had a few photos for me to check out. Any help would be grateful.

I'm still wondering if anyone can answer my question about the wire harness. I guess I'll have to pull it down myself and see.

Looks like someone finally stumpped the whole site...lol. I know that Quick installed one on his 93, but I don't think he has wired it up yet.

I put my console in, and got all of the wiring harness I could. I had to cut it after I got down the pillar. So I need it wait until it gets warm and run my own wires or find a harness in a junk yard.

The temp sensor goes in the front of the radiator on the right side. Just pops in.

Well I found out. I only have the dome lite wires running up the piller. Orange/green and black. Now all I have to do is wire the thing in. I have a harness being sent to me from a online salvage sight. I just have to figure out were it plugs in at. I have an idea but it's going to be a pain to get too. The fun of upgrading, O-joy.

Where did you get the harness from, and how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

I went through http://www.planetsalvage.com. They located the harness for me. I did some more searching and I found where my wire harness will connect at. The connector is behind the fuse panel. Right now I have only two wires (male side) going to the dome light, but the connector (female side) has all the wires for the temp sensor, speed sensor, etc. All I should have to do is plug it in. I still need to find the connector for the temp sensor by the radiator so I can connect that up. Anyone have an idea where it might be. Someone take a look or a snap shot for me.

I'm wondering the same thing about my 95, if the wiring is already in the roof. If it wasn't in your 2000, then I wouldn't guess it would be in mine. I was hoping it would be. I'm still searching for a console anyway, but not having much luck.
