Howdy, just wanted to drop a quick message in the forum regarding a check engine light and related diagnosis I did recently.

Last week while driving to the post office I had a new check engine light come on in my 2010 Limited with V8. I have a bluetooth odb reader so when I was stopped I connected to the phone and read the code with the ODB fusion app:

P0446 EVAP system vent control circuit was the code.

After searching the web and this forum for that code, I found a lot of information but nothing super solid. One thread says the manual indicates you'll need lots of tools and diagnostic equipment to really figure out what the problem is...another thread said the valve is under the hood by the master cylinder. What actually put me in the right direction was a TQC auto parts video on youtube that indicated the valve is in front of the passenger side, rear axle, so basically about a foot inboard of the passenger side rear tire.

Well, I decided to get on my back and just peak under the rear of the vehicle on the passenger side and sure enough, for the 2010 with V8 that is exactly where the EVAP system vent is.

Further, upon inspection, the wiring harness was completely severed with both ends just dangling there. I can't tell if this is from years and years of under truck abuse or if a chimpmunk or mouse just decided to destroy it. Bottom line, twenty minutes and a new connector spliced in from Amazon and the check engine light is gone.

Moral of the story, despite everything the internet says and how convinced you might be that you can't handle the job, at least take a look first, it might just be plain as day what the problem is.
