Hey guys I want to make my explorer all red, instead of the gray bumpers, flairs, and running boards. What do you guys think of this? Has anyone done this on a '98 or '99? Will it work? Who will do it, any body shop? I just want it to match up, and look right if I get it done. I like the way trucks look when they are solid colors. My dads 2000 ML430 is solid hunter green. Alot better then the past ones with the gray body cladding. Can anyone give me some insight as to if this can be done? I am planning on getting a lund wind Jammer, and figured if I am going to have that painted the body color, why not go and get the rest done. Will it be expensive? Thanks everyone for their help

i think you confused me with your question. do you want the entire car painted red, or just your fender flares and all that to match the rest of the car. anyways, whatever you do "DO NOT TAKE IT TO MACCO!!!" they will just paint over what ever you have. The best way to go would have to be a body shop. if you can find one of these near you. Just make sure you check many body shops. If your painting the whole car it definetly won't be cheap. for a GOOD and decent paint job, look anywhere around 700-1500 depending on body work and the shop. MAKE SURE THE GUY KNOWS WHAT HE"S DOING. they need to sand it down, prime it, wet sand it then get a base coat clear coat. I'm probably being broad with my answer, but just write back and help me narrow down to exactly what your asking for, hope this helps, and let us know how it works out.

Sorry for my vagueness, I mean that my truck is now red, and the bumpers, flairs and side steps are gray. I want to change all the gray pieces to red. To make the truck all red. So I would just be painting the bumper, side steps, and the fender flairs. What would that run? Would it be cheaper if I take them off ahead of time, and just bring it to them? Less labor? Well thank you for your help. and hopefully you will be able to assist me more.
Thank you
Jason
