i read on my new Lightning Audio Bolt B2.150.2 that they get hot, they have a fan for the amp that goes in the top, but its like 30.00$ , i got 4 or 5 PC fans siting here ! think i could just cut for it and stick it on there ? and what way should the air go ? in or out ?

looks like it would mount

It would have to suck air out of the amp

so i suck ? lol....

If you draw the hot air out ,it won't cool the heatsink. You need to put cool air onto the heatsink from the outside.

o now ! sh it !

make sure that the fan is 12v DC

ya it is, but now is it still out with the air  ...

I would worry about noise interference from the computer fans...

You dont have to worry about noise as computer fans are designed to not make interference.

got it all like its going to be, think it looks pimp , and it cool's great, the fins are ice cold !

in not going to blow the air in to the amp if not for just the dust, the dust would get pushed right in to it. so i think ill pull the hot air out.....

Even thought I know that you are suppose to force air across the heat sinks, experiance has taught me to suck the heat out... forcing cold air in adds alot of dust and dirt to the inside of your amps. Over time the heat sinks will be full of dirt and wont be very effective. If you want to force air into the amp get a small filter.

that looks sweet

you exhaust heat, ALWAYS exhaust heat. The only time you would push air into the amp is if you have a fan on the other end exhausting it creating air flow inside of the amp. You cant do this so you draw the hot air AWAY from the amp and let cool air replace it. Dont fans on CPU headsinks pull the hot air away from the heatsink ?

When you force air onto the heatsink of an amp the air will vent from the exhaust side of the fins. Does everybody understand that? To the guy with the copy machine....I understand what you're saying but this isn't a copy machine in an explorer is it? I am quite sure that you guys know a whole lot about explorers but when it comes to car stereo you guys seem to be quite narrow minded. You do realize that if we were dealing with a real power amp , heat would never be an issue. But of course you guys know that because you're all on the cutting edge of mobile audio with the lightning bolt amps and mtx subs. Oh my god GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry that not everyone is as uber and awesome as you are Ford Freak :P But exhausting air is the way to go.. And I dont work with copy machines, I work with computers and electronics, and exhausting is a better long term solution. You force air onto something, sure it'll cool down faster, but it'll eventually have a build up of dust and crap which keeps the heat in, and then not only are we back at square one, but you have to clean up the mess you made in the first place.

-Edit-

Well, actually the best long term solution is equal exhaust and intake pressure.. But with only 1 fan, you arent going to acheive equal pressure levels.
