Ok so last night i noticed one of my PIAA superwhite headlights was out...not sure whats up with it... The funny thing is, that when the brights are on, both lights turn on, but when just the lows are on, only one turns on .... Any ideas?

the 9007 bulbs are dual filament- high and low beam.

generally the high beams are not used as much as low beams, thats why you still have highs.

how old are those bulbs?

peter

hmm..not entirely sure... id say about a year to a year and a half old... i bought them from matt awhile back when he had a group purchase on them....

you are correct... it sounds like the low beam element of the bulb went out. The PIAA bulbs have a one year warranty but if its over that (and I checked when you ordered and itwas over a year ago) your kind of stuck with buying new ones unfortunately :(.

 urrr...damnit....oh well...anyway you could get me a good price on another set? or is there better lights you could reccomend?

I may have a spare 9007 sitting around but I'm worried the other one will go out soon too... I can get you the smae price I got on the other ones...

do they go out often? it seems very odd for 1 to go out..

i've lost four in the past 14 months. three in the pass side, one in the dr side. none of them were more than nine months old, and the youngest ones were about two months old. i can't afford them anymore. however, in order to be fair, the pair i bought my wife in feb 2001 are still going strong. i do really like the superwhites, just can't keep on shelling out the big bucks for them any longer. poor me.

Spend about $50 and get a pair of Sylvania's SilverStar headlights. They're even whiter than our PIAA Superwhites.

hmmm really? never knew that..anyone else have these also? are they brighter? like do they put out more light, or are they about the same...

yeah the sylvania are definetely brighter. my left side piaa blew so i replaced it with a sylvania and its definetely brighter.

osram/sylvania siver stars

the silver stars are supposed to be the brightest d.o.t. aproved 9007 light available.

i have a pair they are SWEET!

they are 60/70 watt, not 55/60. $ 25.00 each is pricey but less than piaa.

I'm getting some new headlight housings for my F-150, fortunately APC makes some projector lenses for them. I am going to try PIAA's "top of the line" in one side and put one of them sylvania's in the other side. We'll find out which one is better ;).

silverstar vs. PIAA

I dont think so. I too have silverstar and PIAA and I am 100% positive that the PIAA is brighter.
