Piece of Junk

And I was just clarifying that Microsoft had nothing to do w/ this particular user interface. The development of the user interface is all Ford (and it's contract companies)

If I may also add there is very little difference between Microsoft today and apple on most GUI interfaces. 10 years ago big difference. It used to be a compelling argument between Mac and windows-

But I digress, we now resume our regular scheduled programming in progress.

Jesus 'bama- Nevermind- I posted the first reply to your original question, which you completely ignored, probably because it didn't fit your opinion of what is wrong. Carry on, good luck with your Ex.

I wish the mods would delete this thread. Talk about beating a dead horse. Hell a whole dead herd has been beaten.

Joe Dirt, I was a bit corn-fused by the photo you posted (and I don't think I was the only one)...didn't get the thankyouthankyouthankyou thing either, lol :)

I don't think anything would be lost by deleting this thread...

Same here - I hope that isn't your vehicle Joe, or an incident you or your loved ones were involved in. Escpecially not that perty new Escape you had recently snagged.

Good morning Vince. Just sitting here trying to figure out why 'Thank you' would even be part of the MFT's vocabulary.
I've been very polite when speaking to it and haven't been thanked once.

Peter

Maybe if more of these rants get posted Ford will get the message. The system needs to be reworked and a new radio/MFT needs to be developed. There is no excuse for this to continue to occur for goin g on 3 years. They have addressed it with a band aid. This may be just another JAFMMFT but I thought this is what these threads are supposed to be about. I for one am new to this site and I suspect others are too. I hope I can alert others as to the various problems that I am having with my unit so others can use this information if they need to. Therefore I would request that we allow this thread to remain on topic and put the monkey back in it's cage.

Have you gone to your dealer yet?

I think JoeDirt is right. While I certainly have minor issues with my MFT, there are some - like yourself - who have more serious issues that sound hardware related. Perhaps your dealer can help.

Anyway, you really cannot post something here about how horrible MFT is that hasn't already been said by tons of people. All you are doing is adding tears to a river Bama.

I would also add that if you really wanna make hay and try and get Ford to fix this problem, you would be more effective contacting Cory (FordCustSvc) or Rebecca (IVTTEAM) who are on these boards (PM them) who can set you up with a Ford customer service rep for your area and then you can complain right to the horse's mouth.

Even better - write Mullaly a letter. I've heard that doing so is often more effective then you think.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation, jrmexplorer.

...I use my car for work and I need these features to work the way they are supposed to. It goes in the shop Friday, let's see what happens.
bamacommander,

I suggest contacting Rebecca on the In-Vehicle Technology Team (username: FordIVTteam) via PM. She’s awesome at helping. :)

Thankyouthankyouthankyou...
What happened, Joe Dirt?

I have ~600 miles on my 2013 and MFT is working pretty well for me...
My SYNC and MFT work flawlessly and I haven't upgraded yet....sorry about your luck...
...your unit may be having some problems, and a trip to the dealer is in order...
Thanks for everyone taking the time to help in this thread.

Cory

I recommend posting in the correct forum for the appropriate help.

I will call Rebecca on Monday. Took the car in today and they said they have never seen all of the issues I was having at the same time. In other words it was the most broke ever. Anyways they are going to put a brand new unit in on Tuesday. I am good with this solution provided it fixes the problem. So far the dealership has been first rate in getting me in and walking me through the process. Let me be clear about my EX, it is a very nice vehicle. It gets great gas mileage, it is very comfortable, and solid. I love it and so does the wife. I have owned 7 Fords, in fact my first car was a 1976 Cougar XR7. All my previous Fords have been as close to flawless as possible, so when this one was giving me problems right out of the box I wanted to know why. When I saw all these threads regarding the MFT system I thought this is way out of hand and Ford should have fixed it by now. I am willing to let the fix take place and I will report back and let you know how it turns out. I hope this has a happy ending.

There are plenty of *****ing threads. The best threads are the ones where people can help you figure out what your problem is.

In other words it was the most broke ever.
Nope. The most broke ever belonged to Loganfilm. He went through multiple dealer trips. Turned out his problem under the old software was that he had 6,000+ contacts in his iPhone, IIRC, and he had his MFT set to auto update the contact list of startup. Then he would go to use the built-in nav, and then issue a bunch of commands. So when it finally finished with what it was doing and tried to execute all the buffered commands, it really went screwy.

If you want resolution to your issue, if you would provide some more information about what you are plugging in, type of equipment, etc., someone may be able to help you.

Talked to the SYNC Ford Rep today and given the build date of my 2013 the current unit in my EX had the old software loaded on it first. I was told that prior to my purchase they downloaded the new software. The lady then told me that some of those early units put in the 2013's had issues like I am experiencing. She told me that Ford is trying to make it right and that the new software should be ok in the new unit I am getting. I am taking it in tomorrow for the fix. Stay tuned.

I just had my APIM module replaced 3 days ago. Since then, it has gone to a black screen and rebooted now 5 times. 4 just today.

Oh no, I hope I don't have the same problem you are having with your new unit. This new Explorer is a very comfortable ride and I like it alot; however something like this can ruin the whole experience. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Took in the EX today and they replaced the screen. They told me it was fine and to come and get it. When I picked it up I tested it to make sure it was fixed. It was not. Went back in and they are going to keep it overnight and try again tomorrow. Let's see what happens. This so called fix did not correct anything. ARRGH!

Don't be surprised if someone deletes this thread because of the negative tone. I just was commenting on a thread complaining about AppLink not being released for MFT yet and the moderators proceeded to delete it.

Apparently you can't complain about not getting adequate responses from the Ford representatives.

Apparently free speech doesn't exist, and the world can only be comprised of lollypops and rainbows.

Also VinceL is a **********. (Wonderful guy)

Edited out of respect for fellow members and moderators.

This thread won't be deleted.

In general, we're not biased and from what we've read in such threads, I think we can all agree that not all instances of the MFT systems (hardware and/or software) are working properly. So this is what this forum is all about, to voice your trials and tribulations and to get in touch with Ford's online representatives.

Having said that, the reason why threads ARE deleted (or at least parts of them deleted) is usually because another user disagrees with the original poster's (OP's) complaint and then goes on a diatribe to discredit and disprove the OP's claim. This then typically leads to a snowball effect and no good comes from that thread afterwards - which then leads to a deletion.

Got my Ex back last night and was told it is sorta fixed. The Nav will most of the time take a short address like 123 Elm Street, but not a long address or one in which the street is a number like 2525 34th Ave. It just will not recognize numbers then numbers again. The tech had a new 2013 on the lot and he experienced the same issues with that one also. So he is going to be talking to some tech big shot from Ford to see if there is a fix. I have yet to try out the other things to see if they work properly, so stay tuned.
